@FootballEra_ The actual problem is that zubi cannot beat the press by taking the ball on half turn and progressing ...U can bank on him returning the pass back were it came from or passing sideways

People like lying to themselves. It’s okay to admit you misprofiled Zubimendi, he’s not the Jorginho regen or anchor No. 6 many thought he was. He’s closer to a Gündogan-type profile, but less comfortable under pressure. The reality is that Arsenal didn’t enter the market for a box crasher; they went looking for a Partey and Jorginho replacement as an anchor No. 6. If they wanted a Gündogan-type player, there were several better-suited options, Bruno Guimarães, for example, fits that mould perfectly. Zubimendi’s occasional box crashing and final third movement is good but Arsenal need him to be a reliable source of ball progression and circulation in first phase, pressure reliever with press resistance, buildup organizer, tempo dictator and controller in possession more than anything. Zubimendi’s selling point was that he was a Spanish, metronomic anchor 6. At the moment, the only way to mask his build-up limitations, and lack of press resistance is by surrounding him with specialist build-up full-backs — Calafiori, White, or MLS as an inverted left-back, so he doesn’t have to constantly receive under pressure, beat the press, and progress the ball himself.

@Alarsenalnews_ Please why do we play Zubimendi and Rice together when Rice can play the number 6 role very well?

I have stood by you all these years, Mikel Arteta. please, there are simple mistakes that could be avoided. Why keep on making those same mistakes over and over again? Even if you don't really rate or like Christian Nørgaard, last night's game was calling for him. It was obvious that Zubimendi was tired and couldn't control the midfield. Norgaard is a Premier league proven player, who should have brought stability into that game last night.

Now that the dust has settled, who is to blame for Arsenal crumbling? First season we were told Saliba injury. Second season, Partey and Gabriel Jesus. Third season no squad. This season what’s the excuse???

Where is the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? This is not just a question; it’s a critical demand for accountability in a national emergency. As we approach the end of this year, Nigeria will be home to approximately 140 million people living in extreme poverty—the highest number in the world. We are grappling with one of the hungriest populations globally, staggering insecurity, an unemployment rate exceeding 80 million among our youth, and one of the worst places to be born, with infant mortality rates worse than those of a nation seven times our size. In the midst of this chaos, where has our President been? Spending 196 days abroad in 2025 alone—more than he has spent within his own country, at a time when we face profound crises. Since December 2025, Nigerians have not heard a word from their President. Reports indicate he opted for a holiday in Europe while the nation was plunged into a New Year marked by hunger, anxiety, and uncertainty. There was no New Year address, no national broadcast, no leadership voice to provide reassurance or guidance. This lack of presence starkly contrasts with what we see in comparable developing nations where leaders step up in times of crisis. In Nigeria, following U.S. military strikes on our soil, our President remained silent. Instead of directly addressing the nation, Nigerians learned about these critical events from foreign media, American officials, and the vague communications from the Presidency’s aides known for their propaganda, rather than from their own leader. This is not governance; it’s neglect. The President was seen abroad yet again for another summit while remaining absent from his own country when he is needed the most. Earlier this year, he even sent an AI-generated image to the nation instead of addressing his people face-to-face. Are we to believe Nigeria is being governed, or is it merely being managed from elsewhere? Leadership is not simply issuing press releases; it’s about standing before the people, engaging with them, and offering clarity. We are not asking for perfection; we demand presence. Nigerians are eager to hear from their President through direct media briefings. They deserve to understand the state of their country. You cannot run Nigeria like a personal business or a private club; it is imperative to rebuild and grow our economy through unity and clarity. Progress is impossible without unity and consensus, and it begins with strong leadership that sets the tone. No policy, reform, economic plan, or security measure can thrive in a divided nation. When leadership withdraws, unity falters, and the fabric of our society unravels under the weight of mistrust and division. In a time of crisis, the absence of leadership is not just troubling; it is perilous. Silence in the face of crisis is the loudest form of failure. A New Nigeria is not just POssible; it is essential. -PO

DAVID LUIZ: “I had Pablo Aimar from Argentina as a teammate. I remember that when I arrived at Benfica, many players helped me, but one day Pablo talked to me in his room and told me: ‘Let’s watch the last match.’ He started showing me how to go from a ball in defense to one in attack, how to create space, how to disguise a pass to try to find it between the lines. That kind of advice I had never gotten. He was someone who that year allowed me to improve a lot in my game. I thought, ‘how does someone have time to think about how I can improve?’ I was so happy, he’s a top player, for me the best I played with. He’s also Messi’s idol. If he’s Messi’s idol, he has to be my idol for sure.”

The Progressive President is able to import Prado SUVs and Buses, brand them and distribute them 24 months ahead of time. The Progressive President is unable to import Tractors from Belarus and distribute them to farmers 5 months in. I guess the priorities of the Progressive President is clear.

I promised to summarize this post. I will focus on just one statement. "Nnamdi Kanu should never have been arrested." The arrest here was not the 2022 arrest. It was the first arrest by Buhari. Nnamdi Kanu started before GEJ left office. GEJ ignored him completely. He insulted GEJ, Peter Obi, OBJ, everyone and they ignored him. I disliked him then, and I still do, but that's no crime. He called for Igbos to boycott elections. I hated him for that. But, it was not a crime. He is no hero. Then he started insulting Buhari when Buhari became president, and Buhari arrested him. Check the charges, they charged him for insulting Buhari. Buhari's wife arrested someone for insulting her. Those things are not crimes. Then the release and the exile. This was the premise of Peter Obi's message. We should never throw history away.
Peter Obi@PeterObi

Kanu’s Conviction: At a Time Like This. The news of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s conviction should compel every well-meaning Nigerian to pause and reflect. This is coming at a time when our beloved nation is facing severe economic hardship, insecurity, and the consequences of poor governance. Rather than reducing tension, this unfortunate development may well only aggravate it. I have always maintained that Mazi Kanu should never have been arrested. His arrest, detention, and now conviction represent a failure of leadership and a misunderstanding of the issues at stake. For years, I have consistently argued that dialogue, constructive engagement, and inclusive governance offer the path to lasting peace. Coercion becomes necessary only when reason has been exhausted. In this case, I submit that the reason was not only not exhausted, but was probably not explored at all, or not fully explored. The concerns Kanu raised were not unheard of. The issues for which he demanded solutions were not insoluble. It only required wisdom, empathy, and a willingness to listen. In any functional society, such grievances are met with dialogue and reforms aimed at strengthening unity. The government’s approach has only deepened mistrust and created an avoidable distraction at a time when citizens are overwhelmed by harsh economic realities and insecurity. While some may insist that “the law has taken its course,” leadership often demands more than a strict, mechanical application of the law. Nations around the world resort to political solutions, negotiated settlements, and even amnesty when legal processes alone cannot serve the broader interest of peace and stability. Nigeria is not an exception. The handling of Kanu’s case mirrors the government as a man trapped in a hole but who, instead of looking for a way out, keeps digging deeper. It worsens not only the government’s predicament but also the nation's collective condition. If we truly desire a new Nigeria - a united, peaceful, and progressive one, our leaders must choose healing over hostility, reconciliation over retaliation, and dialogue over division. Only by addressing grievances with justice, fairness, and compassion can we move towards a future where every Nigerian feels heard, valued, and safe. My ultimate call at this time, without prejudice to how anyone feels about the decision of the court, is for us to be optimistic for peace and reconciliation which will come in the end. I am also saying, thereby, that the Presidency, the Council of State and credible statesmen who love this country and who are interested in cohesion and inclusivity, should rise to the occasion, for a lasting solution. -PO

“Peter Obi is a nobody” Yet anytime something happens in the country, you're waiting for him to talk, if he delays, you're ranting, if he talks, you're quoting his tweet immediately. You don't even hold your clueless leaders who are destroying the country to account, it's Peter Obi morning, afternoon and night. Don't go and get a life.
