What should collectors do about NFTs shown as IPFS-stored in their NFTimeless scans? (low durability score) Unless you want to spend hours doing it yourself, you have to pay a pinning service, like @Filebase or @pinatacloud. I compared the two for you. Filebase wallet scan: manually triggered❌, supports Tezos ✅ UX: each chain requires a separate scan ❌, bad UI (doesn't distinguish between already pinned, already queued, and invalid; doesn't show NFT backup status; CID search and name search are broken) ❌ pricing: $20/mo = 1TB storage + 1TB bandwidth 😀 accuracy: two randomly chosen assets were not pinned and could not be ("already queued or invalid"), despite my confirming they're available on IPFS ❌ durability: files pinned with 3x replication ✅ support: blunt on 𝕏, but reactive on website Pinata wallet scan: automatic update ✅, Tezos not supported❌ UX: multi-chain scanning ✅, improvable UI (no lazy loading therefore webpages crash for large collections, pending PINs paging broken) ❌, shows NFT backup status per collection ✅ pricing: $20/mo = 1TB storage + 500GB bandwidth + 1M requests 🙂 accuracy: data not fresh ❌ (returns broken IPFS CIDs for NFTs that have been migrated to Arweave a month ago); one wallet scan reported 271 NFTs instead of 15433 ❌, and two weeks after I submitted the problem to support, now finds 14768; for another wallet it finds 1341 NFTs instead of 1889 ❌ durability: global node network but no explicit geo-redundancy guarantee support: polite, but asked for information they could find themselves and failed to answer after 2 weeks Both None of them allows you to pin all assets of collections you own one or a few pieces of. ❌ What's your NFT worth if only yours appears in an otherwise broken collection? Scripting it would not be enough, as they would make you pay for the huge size of the pinned assets, even though it would make sense that they divide the cost by the users who pin the same collection assets. ❌ Verdict If you don't collect on Tezos, use Pinata, automatic updates are too important and your time is valuable. If you collect seriously on Tezos, as I do, use Filebase and schedule a monthly hour of manual scanning. Both are better than nothing, but utterly broken. Use NFTimeless to learn your wallet's durability score. Like and share this post if you'd like more useful information like this.
