Danielle Barden, instructed by Caroline Liggins and assisted by Lauren McKinnon from Hodge Jones & Allen Solicitors, recently acted for a defendant who was accused, in dramatic circumstances, of stabbing his girlfriend in the communal hallway of a block of flats in North London, while neighbours and medical professionals looked on. The case was further complicated by the Crown’s acceptance that Danielle’s client was also the victim of stabbing at the hands of his girlfriend. As a result, both were accused of attempting to murder one another, as well as intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm and affray, as alternative counts. After a week and a half’s trial, involving both detailed and sensitive cross-examination of a number of civilian and professional eye witnesses, a jury found Danielle’s client not guilty of all counts. His co-defendant was convicted of attempted murder. Danielle Barden is a specialist barrister instructed in business crime, serious organised crime, general crime and extradition. She is ranked in the Legal 500 in International Crime & Extradition and in Fraud: Crime. Danielle is also recognised in Chambers & Partners for her work in Extradition, Crime, and Financial Crime. Stop the War Coalition
The Palestine Coalition has today written to the Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley calling on him to retract his scurrilous and defamatory claims that we “set out with an intent to march near synagogues”

When Farage and others accused the police of "two tier policing", Rowley did also deny it. However, he didn't publish an open letter addressed to Farage or initiate a public statement. And certainly not in an election period. Equal scrutiny simply isn't applied to the right.

An ex-government adviser confirmed today that meetings were held during the Autumn recess to discuss what to do if “they come for Morgan’s messages”. One week after Parliament returned, McSweeney reported his phone as “stolen”, directing the police to the wrong address.

Cases involving protest activity often raise important legal and human rights issues. A recent case at Westminster Magistrates' Court has seen Katie McFadden, solicitor in our Criminal Defence team, act in proceedings involving allegations of aggravated burglary and criminal damage linked to a protest at a Hampshire technology site. As the case proceeds to the Old Bailey, it highlights the importance of fair representation in cases where criminal law and the right to protest intersect. #RightToProtest #CriminalDefence

A valuable and insightful afternoon at the Limbless Association’s seminar in London. The focus on collaboration and co-production highlighted just how important it is for professionals across the sector to work together to improve outcomes for those living with limb loss. Our Personal Injury team members, Anne Sanders, Ruchi Fowle and Karen Mann, appreciated the opportunity to hear from experts, share perspectives, take part in meaningful discussions on strengthening rehabilitation, and it’s always a treat to catch up with Clifton Henry. Thank you to the Limbless Association and all contributors for hosting such an important and forward-thinking event. #LimblessAssociation #PersonalInjury #LegalSupport

Harsher sentencing for protesters is affecting the UK’s reputation abroad. Giving evidence to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights as part of its inquiry into Security, safety and protest: the role of Human Rights, Raj Chada, Partner and Head of our Criminal Defence Team, argues this is making the UK an outlier in Europe and risks undermining fundamental rights. The implications go beyond individual cases, raising broader questions about fairness, proportionality, and the future of protest rights. #RightToProtest #CriminalDefence #Parliament
