Today, the BRIC-Institute of Life Sciences paid heartfelt tribute to the life and work of Dr. Ajay Kumar Parida, a visionary leader, scientist, and advocate for science with a societal mission. The 3rd Memorial Lecture was delivered by Dr. G. N. Hariharan, Former Executive Director of MSSRF, who shared deep insights on “Linking Science with Society: Key to Sustainable Development.” Dr. Hariharan’s talk beautifully echoed Dr. Parida’s own ideals — that science must empower, heal, and uplift communities, especially those at the margins. From mangrove restoration to tribal health and agricultural resilience, the discussions reminded us that innovation must always be inclusive. As we move forward, Dr. Parida’s legacy continues to guide every lab, every outreach program, and every young scientist at ILS and beyond.
