@mumbaimatterz Had asked. AC trains with closed doors and windows have been running well in the monsoon without major complaints in Mumbai for the past few years. The same shell and AC has been used for this in fan mode.
English

@rajtoday Will the Air Blowers be working during rains? During heavy rains keeping windows open for ventilation isn't an option.
English

@rajtoday why are we ordering this when union govt has stated that 238 AC local will be provided?
English

@rajtoday Since the seats are narrowed, more crowd would stand between the seats than a regular train which can also block the window, is the new design of the window (that only opens in the middle section) sufficient to ventilate each section of the coach even in a packed train?
English

@BalaVardekar Emergency provisions similar to existing AC locals, both inside and outside.
No fare difference.
English

@rajtoday Will windows be enough for fresh air during crowded travel?
How will evacuation happen if the train stops between stations?
What happens if doors malfunction mid-journey?
Are there emergency alarms or door override systems?
Will ticket prices increase due to this upgrade?

English

@chinya_9 Yes. AC trains with closed doors and windows have been running well in the monsoon without major complaints in Mumbai for the past few years. The same shell and AC has been used for this in fan mode.
English

@rajtoday Any additional provision to increase ventilation to compensate for closed doors?
Any backup for ventilation in case of power line failure?
How will they handle delays due to trouble during closing of doors in jam packed trains? Any wardens being deployed on platform?
English

@apoorvklicks -First is an extremely likely possibility.
-That is a possibility and the rake would need to be taken off service.
-That will indeed be a struggle
-Yes.
English

@rajtoday - What if the sliding windows get locked given the poor maintenance
- Who gives the guarantee that blowers would be functioning all the time
- What happens when auto doors are not able to close due to extreme crowding
- Is the seat width reduced in an attempt to increase legroom?
English

@rajtoday Most questions will be from those who do not travel in Mumbai trains and who are unhappy that they cannot target the govt for people falling from trains.
Non-AC closed door trains is a challenge and may require crowd managers to ensure proper operation.
English

The answer to WHY is that this is a temporary and immediate arrangement to stop people from falling from trains. This train came to birth after the Mumbra incident. The tender for 238 customised AC local trains to replace the existing fleet is already under process. This is till that happens.
English

@apoorvklicks True. Collated feedback from commuters on the prototype will be sent back to the manufacturersfor all possible changes is what I am told.
English

@FalgunOza2 The tender for 238 customised AC local trains to replace the existing fleet is already under process.
English

@mkannan1968 Will take time. RDSO will be taking COCR trials susequently followed by passenger trials.
English

@rajtoday Window glass sliding moving left right should have been in up-down moving like in cars. That would have increased open area..
English

@marc8047 Was simulated internally. Did not work out technically.
English

@KedarMkv To stop people from falling from trains. In 2025 itself, 525 commuter lives were lost due to "falling from train" and as many as 1,188 injured falling from overcrowded trains.
English

@rajtoday WHY the door needs such closed with no ventilation … why can’t a full length window with better ventilation

@CarlH43189491 This is for a news article. Getting genuine questions from readers so that railways can answer them.
English

@rajtoday Blurring the lines of Authority.
When have you become the spokesperson for the railway ministry.
#NonAcEmuControversies
English

@rajtoday Q raised from day 1. What was the need to use AC EMU shell which has lesser passenger space in motorcoach
How is IR planning to handle cjaos on platform due to different coach positions (again due to use of AC shell) when this contraption arrives
Haven't got any answer yet
English

@notnikhilodeon The tender for 238 customised AC local trains to replace the existing fleet is already under process.
English

@rajtoday In such Mumbai heat & especially humidity why not have all closed doors AC coaches like BEST switching to AC buses

English

@rajtoday Just one question sir... Who came up with this idea where in a city like Mumbai this is next to impossible?
