This has been a response of many firsts: Such as First time a Marburg patient is intubated and extubated successfully. It also recorded impressive indicators like very high recovery rate(over 70%), and outbreak contained within 3 months! Morakoze cyane!! #SSOX

Thanks to Kenya for continuing to build sustainable capacities for emergency response. Civil-military collaboration during emergencies is a core IHR capacity. Establishing a type 2 EMT boosts response capacity not only for Kenya but the continent.

Today in Brazzaville, we opened the Filovirus Disease Optimized Supportive Care workshop with clinicians, researchers, and response partners. The African Region continues to face recurrent outbreaks of Ebola and Marburg. In many settings, clinical outcomes still depend on rapid recognition, organized referral pathways, reliable supplies, trained teams, and consistent delivery of high-quality supportive care. Over the next days, we will review emerging evidence, identify gaps in current practice, and work toward updated, harmonized clinical management guidance. We will also strengthen readiness to conduct high-quality clinical research during outbreaks, aligned with Good Clinical Practice and WHO procedures.
