Mining in Sijhimali is not just about digging land; it will damage the entire ecosystem. When hills are cut, forests are destroyed, and wildlife disappears. Water sources dry up, streams and springs vanish. Soil becomes weak, landslides and erosion increase. As the temperature rises, the local climate becomes hotter. For Adivasi communities, the forest is life. Once it is gone, their food, #culture, and #livelihood are also gone. We have already seen this in places like #Niyamgiri Hills, where mining threats risked forests, water, and tribal identity. Similar impacts are visible in the mining belts of #Keonjhar and #Koraput rivers, polluted forests are reduced, and communities are struggling. Plantations cannot replace natural forests. A planted tree is not equal to a living forest that took hundreds of years to grow. You cannot recreate #biodiversity, sacred sites, and water systems with money. If Sijhimali is mined, the climate impact will increase locally. Rainfall patterns may change, and groundwater will be reduced. Tribal identity and #survival will be at risk. This is not development.
