Nick Pivetta (elbow) is shut down. “Going to take time to rest, allow some healing to happen,” he said. He wouldn’t discuss specifics of his MRI, but said he’s confident he’ll be back this season. When asked if surgery could be on the table he said he’s “focusing on rehab.”

Pads have already lost about half of his 5 year, $100M contract to injury, and he’s still not even throwing from a mound. I’d love for him to return this season, but I’m not getting my hopes up

Stammen is spinning it as a short term injury for Pivetta, in line with the injury he had in Spring Training. Hope this is true, but Padres do have a history of under selling severity.
