@RamonMoncadaIV

My boss Scoutmaster Scott told me to make a Twitter account to plug his TV show. Why didn't he do it himself? He's too friggin' antisocial for social media.

@WhamJam33 @SThebulbmin @APPictures9 1600 Broadway, to be precise. When Paramount took over the studio, they renamed it Famous and moved it back to New York, on 45th Street, I think.

I decided to make a quick visit to the former Fleischer Studios building in Miami, operated from 1938 to 1942. This was officially recognized as historical landmark in October of last year, so I just had to see the building and this sign!

@WhamJam33 @APPictures9 What a relief that it didn't become a strip mall like the original Disney studio in Silver Lake (halfway between Hollywood and downtown LA) did. They at least could have preserved the Mickey Mouse Sound Cartoons sign.

@APPictures9 As it should be. Recognized, that is. It was an ill-advised move because Miami had no film processing facilities so all the post-work had to be sent back to New York, but it happened as a significant part of animation history all the same.

@fleischertoons "Sindbad" is great, but it has no real story. If "Aladdin" had been made in the same style (the top animators were working on "Gulliver") with 3D BGs, the three of them could have been put together with some new interstitial footage as a feature: "Popeye's Arabian Nights."

The barn-raising dance in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) is pure cinematic electricity! Choreographed by Michael Kidd, it transforms everyday frontier labor into something exhilarating and expressive; where axes, beams, and raw physicality become the language of dance. Kidd’s genius lies in blending (most of) the performers’ professional dance training with movement that feels grounded in character - channeling their individual skills into choreography that still reads as rugged, competitive, and spontaneous rather than polished for its own sake. The result is a sequence often hailed as one of the most entertaining in musical film history, fusing acrobatics, humor, and narrative momentum into a single unforgettable set piece. The brothers: Russ Tamblyn, Jeff Richards, Marc Platt, Tommy Rall, Jacques d'Amboise and Matt Mattox The brides: Nancy Kilgas, Julie Newmar, Norma Doggett, Betty Carr, Virginia Gibson and Ruta Lee #SevenBridesForSevenBrothers

@UncleWalt1971 The 2D staff was dumped without so much as a severance package. The union didn't do anything about it because "they had the option to learn computer." And churn out the kind of heartless, soulless CGI drek that's done now. Some were invited back for "Frog Princess."

Uncle Walt’s Little Known Facts
The roughly 13 minutes of traditional hand-drawn animation in Disney’s “Enchanted” were outsourced to James Baxter Animation in Pasadena (founded by a former Disney animator). Disney had already disbanded its in-house 2D department after the CGI boom, so Baxter’s team handled every frame of Andalasia as a tribute to the studio’s golden age. #DisneyFacts

@Noirchick1 It's always a surprise, and a testament to the moguls' lack of imagination, that the studios were unable to catch on to Lucy's potential. It took a lesbian director to show what she was capable of, given the right material.

@fleischertoons @am_cinematheque Beautiful restoration job, as usual, but it's still kind of a lousy cartoon. It's not hard to see why a Gabby series didn't catch on. Even though by then Max' and Dave's days were numbered, they should have brought back Ko-Ko and Bimbo for antics like this.

@oldtoons_ She also gets to boss people around for a change. When she demands that the dwarfs wash before dinner, you're surprised none of them (Grumpy would be the most likely) says "Hey, whose house is this?"

This scene is special. For a girl who grew up in a castle under a cold stepmother, the kitchen might've been the first place she felt a sense of control or creative output. Her kindness and skill secure her shelter, her domesticity is not a chore, but active self preservation.

@SalManXxzz Br'er Rabbit should have been preserved. The wily rabbit outsmarting the predator is an African folktale. Disney was no longer interested in animated shorts by then, but, properly written, a Br'er Rabbit series would have given Bugs Bunny some serious competition.

By far the strangest, and darkest Peanuts cartoon is 1990, WHY, CHARLIE BROWN, WHY about a little girl dying of leukemia. To our knowledge, it only played once, and it's odd having the adults sounding like a trombone, explaining that she's getting chemotherapy.

@fleischertoons I'm delighted the first three Casper cartoons have been restored. The unfortunately titled third one, "There's Good Boos [which reads like "booze"] Tonight," has a moving ending. As for rebooting Casper with "an edgy tone" (what, he'll be less friendly?), can't they let him RIP?
