I'm reading about Mesopotamian barley usage but this line leapt out at me. "Studying food in history is by its nature an interdisciplinary endeavor."

What does #plantbased really mean? 🤔
A plant-based diet is all about the promotion of healthy plant foods such as fruit & veg, whole grains, beans, pulses, nuts and seeds.
You don't necessarily have to become a vegan or vegetarian. Small steps can already make a difference! ✊

@delightfulrepas Huh, you just made me realize that it might be purely a stroke of luck that my lighting got installed toward the front.

English

@RandalOulton That looks so perfect. Like you, I use them sparingly and this would be so handy. Unfortunately, I have no place to mount it because of my undercabinet lighting.

Still really happy with my purchase last year of this one-handed-tear under-counter paper towel dispenser. Saves counter space & wonderfully convenient when one hand is dirty or wet. (And yes, I use paper towel sparingly, using mostly reusable cloths)

@GastroHistory I saw that hot mess of comments, and I thought, whoa, I'm staying clear of that.
English

@GastroHistory They reminded me right away of two of my grandmother's "flippers", so I went down to the basement to find them. One is a "Kitchamajig", which says it whips. Wouldn't be my first choice for a "whipper".

I adore the design of the late #SoriYanagi's 'buttter beaters' so I acquired two more of these spatulas for the @GastroHistory household. But can anyone shed some light as to why they are called butter beaters? They aren't exactly good for beating eggs in my experience.

English

@neilbuttery Off the top of my head, I can think of at least five different meanings in the kitchen for the English word "sponge", and I bet there's probably one or two more.
English

@RandalOulton Ah yes. I have updated that recipe and its photos a couple of times. Can't believe I didn't know what a sponge was when I wrote the first iteration
