@coach_smith11 Yes! And other common side effects of strength training include increased confidence and sport performance!

The closest thing we have to a fountain of youth is the weight room at the gym.

In order to jump higher, an athlete must overcome gravity by generating high degrees of ground force relative to their body mass. A primary strategy for Jumping Higher should be increasing Relative Squat Strength. Squat ⬆️ Jump ⬆️

One of the biggest misconceptions in training is that hard equals effective. It doesn’t. Someone with zero experience could create a workout that leaves you exhausted in minutes. Push a prowler until you collapse. Run until you throw up. Making someone tired is easy. A lot

@JeffBarnes52 Agree 100%. So many coaches are afraid to try something new in case it doesn’t work. Well what if it does? If I am doing things the same way I did 20 yrs ago I would hope they would find someone to replace me

The same coaches who don’t see value in preseason and in season weight training are usually the ones who say “that’s how we used to do it “. If we want better results, we have to be willing to evolve and understand things have changed for a reason.

@zac_layman55 Thanks for the kind words brother! I learned from some really good coaches over the years especially when I started in the profession long ago as an intern under the late, great Kurt Hester.

As an AD, I implemented a strength program where every athlete lifts in season with their current team. I challenged coaches to scientifically prove it was not beneficial. No one could. It eliminated the tug of war over athletes and reinforced what we believe.

Fast people do fast things! Sprinters shouldn’t jog (slow thing). Change my mind
