“White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane, written by Grace Slick, was lyrically inspired by Lewis Carroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland,” while the song’s structure follows Ravel's “Bolero” (The score was created at the request of the dancer and patron of the arts Ida Rubinstein) and was intended for choreographic embodiment. Grace claims that it’s primarily about curiosity rather than celebrating psychedelic drug culture: “When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead and the White Knight is talking backward and the Red Queen's off with her head, remember what the dormouse said: Feed your head.” The song has been featured in multiple movies, referenced by novelists, and reached the top 10 charts worldwide.
