No, Southport attacker Axel Rudakubana’s father, Alphonse Rudakubana, did not change his name from Martin, nor is he a wanted war criminal. In 2017, an article citing Rwandan intelligence listed 231 individuals wanted for crimes related to the 1990s genocide. Among them was Martin Rudakubana, identified in a 2006 ICTR case as an MDR politician and former Mayor of the Rushaya commune. He is believed to currently reside in the Central African Republic. Martin is unequivocally not connected to Alphonse. Their ages, parents, hometowns, and every other detail—aside from their shared surname and nationality—are entirely unrelated. I can state categorically that they are not the same person. Please stop propagating this baseless fake news. Spreading misinformation about Southport undermines the credibility of legitimate facts and gives Axel’s defence team the opportunity to claim that, with so much false information circulating, their client cannot receive a fair trial. If you genuinely want justice for the victims, verify your information before posting.
