We’ll always protect Canadian workers and businesses against unjust U.S. tariffs. We’re launching a new $1 billion financing program for businesses manufacturing and exporting steel, aluminum, and copper products. We’re also making $500 million available for tariff-impacted businesses across every sector to diversify markets. We’re building a stronger, more independent Canadian economy — and making sure our workers and businesses can bridge to it.

George Washington believed that vaccinating his troops against smallpox was the key to winning the Revolutionary War and our independence. A founding father from 250 years ago had a better understanding of science and military readiness than Pete Hegseth.
The Washington Post@washingtonpost

Breaking news: The military will no longer require U.S. troops to receive the annual flu vaccine, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said, rolling back what he described as “overreaching mandates that only weaken our war-fighting capabilities.” wapo.st/4dZY8UL

I’ve said before that the most surprising thing to me about Americans’ reaction to the Trump era has been the relative indifference to flagrant corruption. I didn’t expect it and I don’t understand it. It’s the deadliest poison they’ve injected into the Republic’s bloodstream.
PBS News@NewsHour

In his second administration, President Trump’s family, including his son-in-law Jared Kushner and sons Eric and Don Jr., are expanding their business ventures, earning hundreds of millions of dollars and prompting fresh concerns about influence peddling and conflicts of interest. @ElizLanders reports.

@LTGetsPolitical Puts me off even more. I kinda get it is a sport that appeals more to the right than left. But when they have then exploited that, and then tried to deny it. Come on. I can deal with being outshouted but not treated like a moron.

Hard to overstate how absurd this line of thinking is. Gaslighting of the highest order. Fan base has been completely homogenized politically. The sport is now a vector for right-wing politics. They helped a candidate destructive to democracy. All-time cluelessness to float this publicly.

Dana White says the UFC White House event “has NOTHING to do with politics”: “This is the UFC’s gift to the 250th birthday of America… This isn’t about politics. This is about the United States. If you love America, you’re gonna love this event.” (via @PatMcAfeeShow)

BREAKING: Sources indicate LIV is preparing to wind down operations as the Public Investment Fund (PIF) reassesses its broader strategy amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East. A recent board meeting in New York focused on the league’s near-term future, including whether to cease operations following this week’s event in Mexico City or continue through the end of the season. Importantly, this is not a reflection of LIV’s commercial performance. The league was fully funded through 2030 — this is a top-down strategic shift driven by evolving geopolitical priorities. MBS pulled the plug.

On my recent visit to Ukraine the statistics underlined the assertions below⬇️⬇️🫡 I have been saying this since I left the military…Ukraine is leading the way…
Al Carns@AlistairCarns

The character of conflict has changed: 1. For the first time since WWI a weapon system other than artillery (offensive support) has resulted in more casualties——drones! 2. For the first time a Navy without a Navy has defeated a Navy ——with drones. 3. Most deep strikes are being executed with drones…dumb hardware equipped with increasingly sophisticated software. So what. 1. We need an equitable mix of mass produced drones coupled with high end sophisticated weapons systems across all domains. 2. We need an industrial base that can scale and sustain the demand and scale of modern warfare. 3. We need to change our tactics, techniques and procedures to include the use of mass drones. Drones now cause more casualties than artillery in Ukraine…so if we are not training our men and women on drones (doctrine, concepts, offence defence) it would be similar to not training our men and women on artillery prior to WWI = unthinkable. Some common misperceptions: - lessons from Ukraine are not applicable to other theatres. The future of warfare will include mass produced uncrewed systems across all domains. - We need to be careful of pretending we will have the option to fight differently…our adversaries will use attrition to be decisive. Given the industrial scale of some of our adversaries to think otherwise would be foolish. - sophisticated vs unsophisticated systems are a binary choice. A combination of the two is key to success. Mass produced systems compliment and increase the longevity and effectiveness of high end capability. - Capability designed in Ukraine has little or no relevance outside of warfighting. Our preparedness for warfighting is critically dependant on our ability to integrate and operate disruptive technologies. From intelligence gathering to strike these systems reduce the need to put people in harms way. - the future of warfare is changing. It has already changed…the future is now. Simplistic but it outlines the significance of what is happening in Ukraine. Some pictures below—-all of which could have been conducted by drones—-at range—-with very little risk to life (from our side).

I don’t know who needs to hear this but for every multi-millionaire golfer who will be fine if LIV *does* close, the league has many , many more employees who have families and mortgages and bills to pay. I’d put myself in their shoes, not Jon Rahm’s or Bryson DeChambeau’s, before crowing too loudly.

Free speech Rupert! My view on yours. Ps I note you didn’t respond to our invite to come on and discuss all of this. Amazing how people like you and Nigel really don’t like robust intelligent conversation and examination of your own views. Is it enough just to have Musk pumping it all out for you?
Rupert Lowe MP@RupertLowe10

Alastair Campbell has just accused me of having 'extreme views'... Starting an illegal war based on a pack of lies causing the unnecessary death of so many British soldiers is the extreme position, in my view. I just want my country back - there's nothing 'extreme' about that.

People who are saying the US and Israel are being surgical in their air strikes against Iran are missing one major fact. The US and Israel have killed many more Iranian civilians in airstrikes since Feb than Ukrainian civilians killed by Russian airstrikes in all of 2025.

Eddie Hearn says his interest has grown in a potential clash with Dana White: "He keeps calling me a p****, but I’m like—let’s see if I’m a p****… I mean, we’d make $30 million each. What does he think—I'm an easy touch? I’m very limited, but I’ll have a proper go. I’ll get myself in good shape. I’m a big lump, and I think I’ll knock him out. But also, if I get knocked out and make $30 million, it’s not the saddest day in the world—and people would probably find it quite amusing. I’m quite excited about it now. I’m going to go hit the gym after this call."
