@CoachSwit D1 football coach told me once, "If I take a kid that can run and caught 20 TD's in high school, but is only 5' 9" and he doesn't pan out, I get fired. If I take the 6' 4" kid who runs a 4.4 and he doesn't pan out, it's the kid's fault." Feels like a similar take with pitchers.

For all the velocity experts out there… So are we saying the pitcher who throws 85 mph, commands the zone, and can land two off-speed pitches for strikes anytime has no chance of playing D1 baseball? Or are we pretending those guys don’t still get outs? Just wondering?

@nextlevelbb Kids train different now. When we played, we didn’t have Hack Attacks throwing 90+ on demand. Now I can take my son up the road and get reps off 95 mph anytime. The access, the tech, the reps, it’s a different game.

The new measuring devices say everyone is throwing harder than ever. But. More runs are being scored in college baseball every year and ERA's are going up and not down. Please explain this to me. And. Don't say college hitters are that good. The overwhelming majority won't play professional baseball and very few will hit in the big leagues.

Food for thought. Right handed throwing high school first baseman. If you're not athletic enough to play third base or the outfield if needed. You won't be athletic enough to play first base in college. Right handed throwing college first basemen weren't usually first basemen in high school. They were shortstops and third baseman.

Relying heavily on an overpowering FB, occasionally mixing in a sharp SL and late breaking CH to limit a very talented St. Xavier lineup. #RoadToLexington || @prepbaseball
