@StopCambo Yeah so why bother creating tens of thousands of jobs up and down the supply chain and increasing tax revenues. Let’s just keep exporting economic benefits abroad.

NEW 🚨: Opening new fields like Rosebank and Jackdaw to make almost NO difference to UK's reliance on gas imports. This is not energy security.

But that’s a question for electrification. You shouldn’t stop exploring for local natural resources just because you want to electrify. You can do both. Everyone has this polarised view. Like everything is binary. You can explore oil & gas domestically with better environmental standards, invest in cheaper energy solutions at the same time as you electrify.

Oil & gas producer subsidieis are the same type of subsidies that Amazon gets to open a warehouse or Tesla gets to open a factory…. Again, the Oil & Gas industry is not only taxed at higher rates and more sections of the supply chain - but the also subsidise renewables. They prop their own and other industries.

Solar panels work for 40-60 years. Wind Turbines work for 25 years, at which point they only need their blades replacing, 5% of the cost, the actual turbine will last for centuries by which point it will be completely outdated. Fossil fuel defenders only have lies.
Stokdog@stokdog

Renewable is a lie. Wind & solar hardware is non-renewable garbage. Build once for trillions. Works ~20 years if you're lucky. Then dead. That's your "green" future. ONE BIG SCAM. Hit ♥️ if you agree

@Landorcan @BladeoftheS Oil & Gas are heavily taxed compared with renewables. Renewables are net beneficiaries of subsidies. You cannot say the same about O&G. - higher corp taxes - carbon taxes - fuel duty Despite the punishment, carbon emissions continue to grow

@ShangguanJiewen Capacity and consumption are two different things. Jus because their renewable capacity has parity with coal does not mean they’ll be able to consume the same. In fact China is tracking to install less renewables in 2026 in 2025 due to that reason

China to source about half of its energy from solar and wind. Coal’s share will tumble below solar, and less than a third of its energy portfolio. Oil and gas are also plummeting, as renewables take the lead in the world's largest manuafacturer.

@AskMichaelTaiwo Artemis 2 didn’t do a moon landing. They’re doing an orbital flight around the moon. The actual moon landing is being done by Elon’s Space X on Artemis 3

I just went through Elon Musk's page. No word on the Artemis II crew's Moon landing or their beautiful Earth shots. If this was done by SpaceX, he would have been talking about it nonstop. The guy is petty. Come on, celebrate a good thing even if it not done by your company.

@ret_ward @KemiBadenoch @ClaireCoutinho Well, for starters if we also explored Shale you can potentially compare ourselves to North Dakota tha today has a wealth fund worth $17k per citizen. Not including the tens thousands of jobs it creates. Or you can compare ourselves to Australia who has an emergency fuel crisis.

Tesla doesn't recongise Trade Unions. Apple doesn't recognise unions. Amazon is anti-union. McDonald's is anti-union. Starbucks is anti-union. Google is anti-union. Walmart is anti-union. These mega businesses are not on your side.

@ZoeJardiniere The gas will literally go to the UK because that’s where the pipes go. If we revitalise our refinery capacity, that’s also literally where it’ll go. How is THAT so hard to understand?

It is blowing my mind how many people don’t seem able to grasp that oil & gas in the North Sea is not “ours” but was sold off to private companies who will trade it on the international market like any other fuel. We don’t get any kind of privileged access to this fuel.

You mean like the all Shale we have available? I would encourage you to look at the state of North Dakota. Population of under 800k, over 1mbpd production and the state has a legacy fund and each resident has over $17k each. If Green Peace had it their way, they'd be like we are now..

More lies or ignorance from brainwashed crank @latimeralder (you decide which), who wonders why Norway can produce more gas than the UK. He has no idea where or lies where the fields are so uses images to pretend UK has more than Norway. Left crank Alder, right reality.

@mzjacobson So no energy is used to mine, refine and manufacture the solar panels, wind turbines and batteries ? Or the grid expansion? Or the power plants that are required for load balancing? Or the transportation to landfills where they get dumped, not recycled, after their life time?

To boot, 11% of all energy worldwide is used just to mine, transport, process, and/or refine fossil fuels and uranium. web.stanford.edu/group/efmh/jac… Whereas wind, solar, geothermal, and hydro require 0 such energy because wind comes right to the turbine, etc. So for anyone to think fuels that take up 11% of all world energy just to bring to the electricity generator will be cheaper at scale than fuels that take 0% of energy is beyond delusion. Plus, when you are using 11% of energy for fuels, you are also creating an enormously inefficient, land-degrading, and polluting system.
Mark Z. Jacobson@mzjacobson

Which lowers electricity prices, more renewables or more fossil fuels? More wind, solar, geo & hydro correlate with lower electricity prices worldwide & across the 50 states. More fossils, nuclear & biomass all independently correlate with higher prices youtube.com/shorts/yI9vlrR…

@renewablesmiffy Really? That’s exactly what we did in the 70s That’s exactly what created a huge boom in re-industrialising the UK, France and Germany. In 2008 when the States did tha with Shale, it has put the in a position where they are net exporters and are immune to the current prices

It shouldn’t really need to be said by now but…… You don’t drill your way out of a global geo political fossil fuel energy crisis History has repeatedly demonstrated this reality to us all but some people still attempt to make you think it is true.
