@JohnKasich It's almost as if you know nothing about this president, have listened to nothing that he has said, or have watched any of his speeches. He is incapable of bringing anyone together, and you know that. That's not what he wants nor is it what his followers want.

The President has a real opportunity at the State of the Union: Bring the country together. Remind us who we are. We saw it for brief moments recently celebrating Olympic medal wins by Team USA. Politics disappeared and we were simply Americans cheering together. We need more of that.

The slight was a tiny bit of humor. In the 3 minute span Trump also joked that Helle... was just an okay goalie, ffs. Everyone took that as a sarcastic compliment... a huge compliment. The women's team need to take Trumps comment in the context of the moment. Their call. WOMEN'S USA HOCKEY are champions regardless of their choice!!

This is a mistake, ladies. You have the opportunity to advance your sport with national exposure and you're blowing it. Pull up your big girl panties and stop whining about a slight by DJT. Make every young girl playing hockey proud and go.

The US Women’s Hockey Team choosing not to go to DC and the SOTU is a huge mistake for both the individual players and women’s hockey in general. It would’ve been an amazing launch pad for women’s hockey in the US and the future of aspiring young female players. Too bad they made the wrong choice.

@NnPnemck Everyone is proud of what the athletes accomplished. What we find really fucking awful is that some people have to place themselves in the spotlight. There were about 500 people not in that locker room more deserving than him, and if they were, they wouldn't look like such fools.

Yesterday was the moment for Democrats to finally make a case with white men…and the country at large. A total layup. All they had to do was let America feel proud for once. But nope. They couldn’t help themselves. Instead of rising to the moment, they snapped right back into their natural state: whining, lecturing, and draining every ounce of joy from the room. They’ve spent a year pretending they’re rebranding…less smug, less self-righteous, more “in touch.” But yesterday made it obvious: it’s total bullshit.

The core of the joke is that our politically correct society forces us to pretend that a lot of "womens' version" of things that are traditionally male are 100% just as important as the male version and that we all quietly know that's obviously not true. That's not even really controversial.

Hating the guys who just bled for their country to earn a gold medal because they laughed at an awkward joke the president of the country they just bled for made, after chugging 6 beers in 13 mins with dopamine flowing like water, is certainly a choice Absolutely no one is saying “that’s out of line Mr. President” and ruining one of the coolest moments of their lives for everyone. I’m not a Trump guy but getting congratulatory call from the president, no matter who it is, after winning a gold medal at the Olympics, is a moment as American as apple pie. These are 20-something year old kids high on life (and USA-crested Mich Ultras). No one’s making a political statement in that moment. They laughed at an awkward joke, and if I had to guess, most of them were prob like “the fuck was that joke about?” afterwards. Jack Hughes is an LGTBQ+ advocate. He said his first thought after scoring was Megan Keller’s OT goal. Half the boys watched the women beat Canada in the gold medal game. But there’s a 0% chance any of them are ruining that insanely cool moment. Idc what your politics are. And if you truly think they should’ve ruined that moment and made some sort of moral stand, imo youre just completely out to lunch and are missing the bigger picture of how big of a moment this was. Touch some grass, get off social media. Half these kids prob don’t even know the 3 branches of government. Out of line joke the president made. Shitty joke but that’s on brand for him But don’t turn this unbelievable moment into some social justice crusade. Just let the moment live.
