@DrCABerry I’ve had emails before with nothing but “Hey! Missed class today. Can you tell me what I need to do to catch up?” I think all uni students need a summer course before semester one that teaches them professional skills!

@NC_Renic It’s not just the academic job market that sucks. Once you get the job, you then have workload models that expect you to do the job of two people 😩

@ashleyruba_phd I ask them what types of jobs that they see themselves doing. When they answer that. I then ask them what qualifications they need for those roles. This should make it very obvious to them whether or not a PhD is something they should pursue or not!

@ashleyruba_phd Also I am not leaving for industry. I’m leaving to recover. Once recovered, I will decide carefully what comes next! I know how lucky I am to be in a financial position to do this - many are not.

@ashleyruba_phd Last day is 17 Nov 🎉. My role is education-focused, I teach a big first year unit. As only unit coordinator I was responsible for >800 students in S1 & >900 in S2. Meant working btwn 20-40 hrs p/w for free over my paid 37.5 p/w. No surprise this = burnout

This afternoon I was notified that the application I slaved over was accepted, with no changes 🎉 In the next 2-3 weeks I will become a #Fellow of the #HigherEducationAcademy It recognises my practice, impact and leadership in teaching and learning.

Purple tongue, bright green eyes, and a lot of 'personality': the Huamantlan Rattlesnake. A subspecies of Mojave Rattlesnake that will flare it's neck out like a hognosed snake and open its mouth in defensive display, acting differently than any rattlesnake you'd see in the US.

@ShannonSkalos My mum said I slept better than all of my siblings as a baby and small child. The flip side is that I don’t think I’ve had a full nights sleep since I was 17. I blame that I slept too well as a kid 😂🤪😂

Why do young kids hate sleep so much?
