The children in the camp asked me to share this photo for them, and they confidently said, “We will reach 5 million views because we are beautiful no matter what!” I laughed and accepted the challenge with all my love.

It has never been more dangerous to be an aid worker. 2024 was the deadliest year on record for humanitarians, and 2025 is on track to be worse. The vast majority are local people, serving their own communities in times of extraordinary need. When humanitarians cannot operate safely, aid does not flow. The launch of the Declaration for the Protection of Humanitarian Personnel at #UNGA80 is a commitment to uphold international law and take practical steps to protect humanitarian personnel. We must #ProtectHumanity.

From floods to supercharged storms, the Asia Pacific region is one of the most significantly impacted by disaster displacement. However, a new @IFRC report reveals not only how the scale of the crisis affects communities in the region, but also the power of local action in supporting people to adapt, expand their options and become more resilient. Using 39 case studies from 21 Red Cross and Red Crescent Society action in Asia Pacific, this report underscores the need to scale up efforts to support people and communities to adapt reduce the risks of displacement and support resilient and sustainable recovery. No one should have to risk their life to get basic humanitarian assistance. No child should suffer from hunger. The @IFRC reiterates its call for safe and unhindered access across Gaza. Aid must be guaranteed and delivered at scale to meet the overwhelming needs.

Over 700 Days of Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan. Today marks two years since the conflict escalated in Sudan, nearly 13 million people have been displaced—the highest number ever recorded for a single country. Ongoing violence, severe shortages of food and water, a collapsing healthcare system, and rising risks of sexual violence have made this one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises. The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) has been on the ground since day one, with its network of local volunteers responding despite challenging conditions. Tragically, SRCS staff and volunteers have lost their lives since April 2023. The safety of humanitarian workers remains a major concern. To avert further catastrophe, all parties must respect international humanitarian law and ensure safe, unimpeded access for life-saving aid. The @IFRC has launched two emergency appeals to provide critical support in Sudan and the region. As this crisis enters its third year, I call on the global community to stand with Sudan and support our appeals. The world cannot afford to look away.
