@Bcallow_74 Yeah, I honestly think this team is in for a rough ride. The task at hand is extremely hard. And the clock is ticking. I don't think Jack Hughes signs a new contract here. He's leaving as a UFA if not before via trade.

I just see a team that needs major surgery to even be close to the top 5-6 teams in the Conference. And I don't think it can be done quickly. It's going to take a few years. And I don't think that Jack Hughes is a signing a new contract with the #NJDevils....

@annikadevils This is well put Annika. I agree. But that is a multi year project to accomplish those things. And I doubt this core stays intact, and they shouldn't. This organization is in a bad spot long term wise.

Recent performances continue to highlight ongoing instability in net. In addition to personnel evaluation, a thorough review of the goaltending development and coaching structure is needed. $7.8 million in caps space next year for this to repeat with a year older goaltending duo is rough. 3.Establish a clear team identity. The current roster construction lacks a defined style of play—whether that be puck possession, transition, or forechecking. This ambiguity places undue pressure on the team’s core players. The new GM must align roster decisions with a cohesive system and ensure accountability. Clear standards of performance should be enforced, and the coaching staff must be fully empowered to make personnel decisions. 4.Rebuild the development pipeline. Organizational depth is critical, particularly during periods of injury. The team must prioritize drafting, developing, and retaining young, cost-controlled talent that complements the NHL roster. Previous asset management decisions—moving younger, affordable players for older, more expensive ones without a strategic shift in play style—have weakened this pipeline and should be corrected. 5.Execute a disciplined retool. The team’s performance since the Olympic break demonstrates its potential when properly aligned. The focus should be on targeted roster optimization rather than headline-driven acquisitions. Each forward line and defensive pairing should be systematically evaluated to identify effective combinations. Cap flexibility should be created by moving inefficient contracts, and players should be utilized in roles that maximize their strengths. 6.Enhance the arena experience. The Prudential Center currently lags behind league standards in fan experience, including food quality, in-game entertainment, and overall atmosphere. Modernizing promotions, improving creativity during intermissions, and offering more accessible food options would significantly enhance fan engagement and satisfaction.

I just don't get it. Regardless if you're a good GM or not, why do you extend a goaltender at that point, when he clearly showed signs of being done?.. #njdevils

I’ll stand by what I’ve said in the past on the pod- if Nico is not interested in beginning a real discussion on a contract (as is his right) on July 1, I’m exploring a trade.

@DevRickus It's basically possible to say that about every pick we've made. Look at Holtz in 2020.... Look at the names after Mukhamadullin in 2020....Stillman in 2021...Nemec in 2022.... He's set us back years..

Is it too early to talk about what a horrible pick Silayev was? Looking at the talent taken after him that could help this roster, makes me want to puke.

@16Dubb I just don't know what that shot is. And how it can be fix. Our biggest weakness and flaw just got extended for two more years at $6 million per year. We need goaltending...

The #njdevils have a shot again. They have a chance. They’re in the mix! Damage has been done that didn’t need to be and time has been wasted that didn’t need to be, but we’ve seen what a team with no shot looks like and this isn’t it anymore. Grateful for that. Let’s go Devils

That was the right move. Albeit too late imo. But now get rid of all the other imbecils as well, Kate Madigan, Dan MacKinnon, the scouting staff etc. They haven't made one good decision. #njdevils
