1) I covered minor league baseball for 30 years. I fully believe players must get lots of time in minors to develop, through ups and especially downs.
I know everyone believes Konnor Griffin should be in majors at 19.

On my Facebook Pittsburgh Pirates history site, the recent post for the 1987 Tony Pena trade got a comment last night that said if he stayed with the Pirates his number (6) would have been retired, but now Konnor Griffin will get that honor instead

@TrevorDame My 12 year old son was so disappointed. He just kept saying “I waited all that time for THAT” over and over for like 15 minutes. I bet he would’ve enjoyed Danhausen’s gimmick, but I don’t think he’ll be able to get over how upset he was with the box reveal.

Whatever you think about Danhausen, I think all involved were probably hoping for more than "Some cheers, some disappointed silence, and audible boos." I imagine he'll get over but they kind of set him up to be a disappointment on night one.
