My last deployment to the Middle East in 2014-2015 I (as BDE CDR) reserved the post theater on Memorial Day for our entire deployed unit to watch this. This, along with “Blackhawk Down” I consider the “must see” military movies post-Vietnam (sorry Hurt Locker didn’t quite make that cut 🥺).

If you’ve never seen the movie “Taking Chance,” I highly recommend you take some time and watch it this weekend. It follows a Marine LTC as he escorts one of his Marines home after he is killed in action. Based on a true story, It’s one of the best movies about war and its aftermath I have ever seen. It’s a gutting movie, but it’s one you need to see at least once in your life.

The bar at the Army Navy Club is named the Daiquiri Lounge because it’s where RADM Lucius Johnson introduced the daiquiri to the US in 1909. They have the best daiquiris in DC.
