CNN tested the water at the reflecting pool, but did not test the Potomac River, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay, after 243 million gallons of human waste flowed into the Potomac. For perspective, 243 million gallons is roughly: •368 Olympic-sized swimming pools, or •Enough wastewater to fill the Washington Tidal Basin several times over.
