Go teach special ed and you will never have that opinion ever again. Most of the students in there were not intellectually slow but instead had severe mental health issues. They used to kick holes in the wall. One threatened another with a knife. Regular walkouts of class. Easy.

Teachers are out of their minds. Literally one of the easiest jobs in the world. No one else gets paid to prepare for work. Also the kids are dumber, fatter, and more unprepared for the world than they have ever been. But yes let’s pay them more?

@Razorsnack The thing about this argument is not that it’s wrong but it fails to recognize being a teacher is indeed easy but being a great teacher is very hard. While I understand why you don’t want to overpay the bad ones but shouldn’t you want to attract great ones?

@Razorsnack Fellow teacher here, I think you need to start looking at the parents for kids being dumber, fatter, and more unprepared. The parent support for teachers has cratered and they just don't care.

@EDUreboot I said one of. Zero pressure, 8-3, summers off, every holiday is extended off time. AI does over half teachers work today.

@texasnote @Mac_The_Jazz Yes he’s a coach. He signed up for those hours. And teachers can have AI create their entire years lesson plan in 5 minutes. They do less than they used to and get worse results.

@Razorsnack @Mac_The_Jazz Just asked HS coach friend their schedule. 5am-5pm Mon-Wednesday, 6am-10pm on Thursdays, and 6am-12am on Fridays. Saturday and Sunday meetings. Summer works 6:30-noon. Have to grade papers and plan assignments on top of that. You are out of touch.
