Do people not realise that the reason they need a car to get their shopping at a supermarket is because supermarkets have killed off the local shops that you used to be able to walk to because people now drive to supermarkets to get their shopping?

@Boenau The bigger and heavier the vehicle, the less annoying speed bumps, dips, cobbles, and suchlike “traffic calming” measures are. The smaller, lighter cars are made much more annoying. So the anti-car crowd is in part responsible for “autobesity”. Yay unintended consequences.

Driving through a city SHOULD be inconvenient if you're driving at the same time as everyone else. Space is limited, and motor vehicles take up a ton of space. Over time they keep getting bigger. Autobesity is a burden on everyone.

@TheAuthorGuy @ilitarit @rothschildmd IIRC, it’s not illegal unless it results in an accident. So it’s rude and you are on the hook to do it safely—so be good at judging risk.

@ilitarit @rothschildmd I'm not sure, I asked Google, but I think we've learned quick and undependable answers. But people change lanes from behind someone going left in an intersection all the time. If it's against the law, it's not enforced.

I just saw a Waymo change lanes in an intersection - I'm obviously not driving. How do you a ticket a Waymo? Does a Waymo know it's being pulled over? Who pays the fine? Who does the police officer ask for a license and registration? Our brave new world leaves me with questions.

Why would you stage a protest to maximally annoy the most people? This is a way to get them on your side?

The problems: • Laws assume platforms can identify users • Linux distros don’t have accounts or telemetry • Mirrors + torrents = no control over distribution • Even developers can’t track who installs their OS This breaks the entire model. Reality: You can’t enforce surveillance… on a system designed for freedom.
