Yes the ‘No Kings’ rallies are problematic But if you are an organizer and that rally is where working class folks are showing up in mass, it’s far more strategic to leverage their turnouts to organize as many people as you can than it is to critique it all day long.

Throughout American history, we have faced mortal crises of our democracy. From the 1770s when we broke from Great Britain, the 1860s in the battle to end slavery, the 1930s and 40s with the collapse of our economic system and the war against fascism. At every one of these moments, the Americans that stepped up fundamentally understood that the world they needed to build could not be the world they had come from. That to protect the rights of their children, they needed to give them new rights, new freedoms. We are in one of those moments of crisis. Nobody wants to live in interesting times, but we do. Nobody wants to be asked to do the hard work, but we will be asked. And we must rise to the occasion. But as we do, we must understand this is not just about going back to what we had. This is about building something new.
