Yesterday Rtn. @okadapaoo shared powerful insights on strengthening community action against NCDs.
Here are the key takeaways from his presentation:
🔹 The “Big 5” NCDs affecting Uganda:
Cardiovascular diseases, Diabetes, Cancer, Respiratory illnesses, and Mental health challenges.
🔹 The alarming reality:
•NCDs account for 33% of annual deaths in Uganda.
•Every Ugandan faces a 22% risk of premature death from major NCDs.
🔹 Key risk factors we can change:
Unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, tobacco use, harmful alcohol consumption, and air pollution.
🔹 Why early detection matters:
Most NCDs develop silently. Regular screening for blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, and cancer screening saves lives.
🔹 What Rotary Clubs can do:
•Promote physical activity & healthy eating
•Support anti-tobacco and alcohol awareness
•Champion mental wellness
•Organize Family Health Days and equip clinics with screening tools
Rotarian @okadapaoo reminded us that “Health is the foundation of our community’s future.”
Let’s commit to one NCD prevention or screening project this year.

This week, I was honoured to join our young leaders at the @RotaractD9214 2025 Rotaract Night of Giving. The energy, commitment, and generosity on display reaffirmed the strength of our future leadership. During the event, I had the privilege of pinning all sustaining members and recognizing clubs that have contributed at least USD 500 to The Rotary Foundation.

This week, I had the honor of joining the Annual District Governors Luncheon hosted by @RCUpperKololo. Past, current, and incoming leaders from Districts 9213 and 9214 came together to reflect, learn, and strengthen our shared mission.
My appreciation to the Rotary Club of Upper Kololo for this impactful gathering. I encourage similar engagements across all districts as we continue to grow, lead, and uplift communities across Africa.
