I’m embarrassed for our youth that I need to restate some truly basic facts and values, but to those who create a moral equivalence between Israel’s actions in Gaza and the murder today by a Palestinian terrorist of an Israeli pregnant mother driving to the hospital to give birth, I will repeat the following: 1) Israel entered Gaza in a defensive war after Hamas terrorists invaded Israel and murdered, raped, burned and kidnapped approximately 1400 Israelis. 2) Hamas and its many supporters in Gaza and elsewhere celebrated this barbaric attack and vowed to continue attacking Israelis. 3) Hamas’ strategy included falsely claiming that Israel was targeting civilians to gain international sympathy. The “Gaza Health Ministry” now admits that its numbers were fake — more than 70% of Gazans killed in this war were adult males engaged in the fighting. 4) Hamas hides behind civilians and in locations that, under normal circumstances, would be considered civilian facilities. Israel has the legal right to strike those facilities when Hamas deploys them to fire rockets and attack Israelis. Israel never targets civilians. 5) All civilian casualties in Gaza are the responsibility of Hamas. Hamas puts them in harms way for strategic purposes and commandeers their humanitarian aid. 6) Since Israel’s independence, the Arab population in areas under Israeli control has grown more than ten fold. Not only is Israel not engaged in genocide, but its facilitation of massive growth of a largely hostile ethnic group is unprecedented in world history. 7) Israel’s Declaration of Independence expressly invites its Arab population to peacefully coexist within the Jewish State. This is a core Israeli value. The fact that most students on American universities are unfamiliar with these basic principles represents a dark stain on our educational system.
