@HippyMomPhD Wrestling with my kids is one of my absolute favorite things. I am trying to get it all in while I can, before they get too big! Big believer that it’s a mental health boost for me and them.

The importance of play can't be overstated Studies show that kids who have low quality father-child rough & tumble play in preschool have higher physical aggression 5 years later Play with your kids & if you can't, find quality outlets for rough & tumble play❤️

What's the best book you've ever received as a gift? Mine came as a Christmas gift in 2011 from my grandma. Stephen King's "11/22/63" blew me away and kickstarted a Stephen King obsession.

For most students, not reading isn't a mechanical problem that standards, tests, or penalties can fix. Not reading is a problem of motivation. And motivation dies when student choice is taken away.

@ReadingFam I'll never get over how much fun "Where the Wild Things are" is to read! Short, but full and lovely. And I have a wild thing, so it melts my momma heart.

It had been awhile since I read this book with my kids, but my 5 year old pulled it out today. Forgot how much I love "The Digging-est Dog." Parents: Which book do you just love reading with your kids?

@dpolehn The Lorax is one Seuss book we don’t have. We’ve watched the movie but I don’t think I’ve ever sat down and read it. Thanks for motivating me to check it out!

@ReadingFam I get pretty into The Lorax. Not sure my kids enjoy it as much but it makes for a good dramatic reading.

@brianpmccann Oh man, it’s a classic! My wife’s parents gave us a huge box of books when we had our first kid. This book was in that box.

@ReadingFam When we were little my parents got a bunch of random kids books published by Parents Magazine. My personal favorite was “The Old Man and the Afternoon Cat.” Now, I read those random books to my niece and nephew.

There's 2 main things ChatGPT lacks: •human experience •intuition developed from that human experience If I'm a teacher, I'm explicitly crafting assignments that call on students to bring those two elements to the table.

@jackmoses0 Regret is fascinating. I’m always framing things through the idea of regret If I do this, will I regret it? If I say yes/no to this, will I regret it? If I eat this, will I regret it? Will I regret spending time __________? Like checking the other lane before merging.

On people's deathbeds, they regret the things they didn't do much more than the things they did but failed at. The lesson? Take action.

@JB_Goldstein After a wrestling practice, my son will be sweaty and exhausted both physically and mentally. On the way home, I sometimes ask him what he thinks other kids in his class are doing right now. Him: “Probably playing video games. They couldn’t do what I just did.” 💪

This is the exact reason to enroll young kids in sport It brings them directly into contact with failure but builds them up to take on the adversity and physically conquer it
Ana Lorena Fabrega@anafabrega11

Failure should be something we encourage when kids are young, not punish. They have to try many different things that don’t work before they can find the things that do. Our society needs failure to fuel discovery and progress.

@Homeschool_LLC Yes! So important to make this time a conversation too. When you stop to talk about a word or idea they don't know, they're learning. And when they interrupt to point at or talk about a car or dog on the page, you learn about their interests. Win-win.

This article is necessary reading for educators and parents alike. Even though its focus is college campuses, I’m seeing these “mental health breaks” happen in early elementary. But is this the path we should head down? A great look at a complex issue.
