@brachel31el @musingsofohara I think people see these other societal issues such as racism/sexism and wanna apply the same level of scrutiny they would to being Vegan…this in practice doesnt work. Food/Animals/Culture/History/Biology/More. Preaching you understand all of these’ll make you look shortsighted.

@ReadingSteiiner @musingsofohara I also think vegan rhetoric can be all-or-nothing and shaming in a way that isn’t helpful for anyone with strict dietary needs, significant financial struggles, a meaningful familial food culture, etc, etc

@brachel31el @musingsofohara I’m agreeing sorry if my comment came off as rude/antagonistic. I’m saying that these circumstances that are genuinely life threatening…should not be used as a “gotcha” by completely able bodied people that just like the flavor of meat.

@ReadingSteiiner @musingsofohara I honestly would take y’all more seriously if you acknowledged that veganism is inaccessible to many people, and it’s not just under comically specific circumstances somtimes harm *reduction* is all someone can offer

@ascehole Usopp relations with Nami have always seemed ally/queer coded…even just the dynamic with Kaya is way more about the nurture of a friendship through the stories (Pan). Usopp/Luffy angst an obvious one (specially wit the Harald/Rocks and Shuggy parallels). Just off top of my head.

@ascehole Though I dont ship much..appealing to “but Uso/Kaya” to shut down any interesting ship/ever bringing up Usopp sounds like blatant excuse. “Canon only” culture or just Straight adherence 99% of the time. Surely a coincidence this happened just recently to another couple Lucas/Max.

@Mitch202011 @TheTrueSanctuar @GH_Quinton Ah yes children known to be rational/always listen 100% of the time…I give up, you win bro. 8 year olds that are told not to throw something in the house will throw it. This is also giving Red side more leeway to mitigate harm and it STILL has holes ignoring fickleness of kids

@ReadingSteiiner @TheTrueSanctuar @GH_Quinton I would tell my kids to press red and they would listen to me because they aren’t retarded. I would hope other parents would do the same as it is their responsibility to take care of their children.

@MavrelNotMarvel @ML_ennial “Abstain=Death”. There is no innocent 3rd party that’s just completely ignored…either give them the power to blindly click 1 of the 2. Say that every person you didn’t include will be in this abstain slot which all die. Or just admit you didn’t think through the hypothetical.

@ReadingSteiiner @ML_ennial No. It's by adding babies, you're basically trying to poison the hypothetical towards your own side. Any decent conversation over the philosophical purpose of the hypothetical will result in that variable being omitted. So it DOESN'T stand to reason that that's implied.

a really weird aspect to this discourse is some people saying “oh when it said EVERYONE on earth you meant EVERYONE?!”
Jaden Williams@JadenJTW

@1MikeMcMichael If children, animals, and ANY AND ALL life without full reasoning ability are counted, I'd press blue. A higher share of blue means more lives saved, and at that scale, the math makes blue the only choice.

@Mitch202011 @TheTrueSanctuar @GH_Quinton 100% vs 51% proves you wrong again though ? Also the “no vote = death” aspect completely removes the idea that kids arent included…meaning either you believe you can convince ALL children to click Red OR their votes are invalid/considered insta dead (meaning blue saves them).

@TheTrueSanctuar @ReadingSteiiner @GH_Quinton In this scenario it would be the duty of everyone capable of rational thought to point out the logic of why all their friends and family should push red. We would need to point out that blue will likely end up being suicidal. Hopefully no one would remain dumb enough to vote blue

@OfBuffalo85012 Kiku is a trans-woman presenting as a woman, there’s no stopgap of trying to convince you of otherwise… Yamato is a pre-op Trans-man that doesn’t try to present masculinity. I don’t think treating Kiku as “better” is a good take tbh. It’s the “good trans” argument.

@PoetSteveWallis @whittomd @ML_ennial People that bring up how colorblind or just blind people can’t differentiate buttons are usually explained away by the Red side…it’s a slippery slope of perspectives brochacho.

@ReadingSteiiner @whittomd @ML_ennial I didn't say or think that, but I'm used to Blues deploying strawmen. Most 5yos are smarter than most people, for what it's worth. You say coma victims are usually brought up, to make a point. But then you ignore the point. They cannot vote. So 'everyone' doesn't mean *everyone*.

@shane1step I think that they didn’t understand how deaths were baked into clicking Red ? The starting assumption of the hypothetical should be that 100% is physically impossible… Red being a good vote is entirely contingent on Blue getting to 51% meaning Blue is the better vote.

@ThatDaveGuy85 @ML_ennial Also you can’t look at the obviously more deliberately jarring and biased new hypotheticals that are framed specifically as a gotcha/ignore aspects of the first one….aren’t exactly this super genuine sample sizes.

@ReadingSteiiner @ML_ennial You're starting from a place of "I think more people think like I do." And if that's the case, and you pick blue then we'd all get a happy ending. We know now, that if you change the framing even slightly, without even changing the rules, the vote swings pretty wildly.

@ThatDaveGuy85 @ML_ennial Your first instinct was to say “everyone=rational adults like me” idk man….I think you might’ve been thinking that way. My framing is from the perspective that literally just seeing 2 buttons in a room is different than the more violent hypotheticals…

@0cPlights @Rednu23 100% on a global scale is physically impossible… It’s never ever been considered the everybody lives button, even by people that choose Red. Genuinely wtf are you talking about. It’s the I WILL LIVE button. Blue is the everybody lives button…that’s the prerequisite.

@Rednu23 Red is literally the “everybody lives button”. Blue is the “you might live” button. Why risk it?

Once you assume that there will be any number of people picking blue, then the choice is no longer just about you. You can call the people who pick blue anything you like: young, elderly, foolish, naive, mentally handicapped, etc. It will never change that you risk their lives.
MrBeast@MrBeast

Everyone on earth takes a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press? BE HONEST.

@ThatDaveGuy85 @ML_ennial Blue was the bias in the question. It’s deliberately framed as the only one to save lives/have no deaths for an easier %. I think that in a quick situation with no real possible way to quantify how scared you’d get…people would be leaning more towards minimizing losses side.

@ReadingSteiiner @ML_ennial I think differently to you. And if everyone is transported to the buttons, then there is no time to discuss anyway it and that will affect the outcome of the vote. This is a bigger problem for 🔵

@ML_ennial I think it muddies down the hypothetical to include anyone who isn't an able minded adult. It makes it less a battle of morals and societal trust, which is the intended goal. I'd vote blue either way, but I don't need to add the emotional baggage of babies voting to defend that

@MavrelNotMarvel @ML_ennial The baby aspect was added for emotional effect because of their complete denial of innocent blue clickers, I think that any person that sees “everyone on earth” and it’s 2 buttons with words on them should atleast recognize that kids can read/click things…

@PoetSteveWallis @whittomd @ML_ennial Coma/babies are usually brought up to make a point. I think most people think that a 5 year old could vaguely understand/randomly click a button/certain age actually make a choice. I dont think those saying “welp everyone is just as rational as me” is the best thought process.

@whittomd @ML_ennial You think that. And of course you think your thoughts are reasonable. That's reasonable...but not necessarily true. I think that it can be reasonably assumed that 'everyone' does not include coma victims and babies. But that can't be reasonable because you didn't think it.
