Here are some 9v9 considerations for #SundayShare , looking at some positional responsibilities in the attacking third, with an accompanying session design to support understanding.

#sundayshare one of my favourite questions to ask players. “What does the game require from you?” As the game is ever adaptable and changing, encouraging players to assess situations and manage their involvement supports adaptability and accountability.

My #SundayShare involves supporting players with success criteria on match days. Encouraging players to set their own success criteria and reflect on their performance gives the game back to the player.

I find things like this useful in my planning so that I can help a player across any part of the process, ie it might be a scanning breakdown rather than a technical fault. Helps with being organic when you have an idea what to look out for!

T players are often just left on the outside because that’s the way it’s always been, but that definitely builds their understanding and relationship with finding or creating overloads!

This plan isn’t for u9/10 players, with those players you can still have specifics you will observe but it’s the skill of the coach to make what you’re looking for relatable to the young players.

Here is a small sided game session plan supporting players to take opportunities to play through/around the opposition. There are a lot of considerations, which won’t all be used at once but allow me to be adaptable to how the session progresses.

For #SundayShare this week, I’ve begun using a periodisation plan that I’ve built to support my planning for this term. Might need to zoom in to read! I want to be more deliberate in my longer term planning this year. Any feedback would be amazing ⚽️

@JOGOFUNCIONAL1 Great resources, Roman. In your experience, how might you make players aware of the possibilities of emergent structures? Would it come through more “play” type activities or through consistent reminders of principles?

My #SundayShare is some technical detail regarding “receiving with purpose” - linked to @PaulMcG8’s 6 Capabilities framework.

Here is a defending session in which planning considerations are to counter the attacking incentives to promote more defensive organisation. What gets rewarded, gets repeated. Which allows the defensive unit to experience more opportunities at solving similar game problems.

My #SundayShare looks more at how I’ve tried to adapt pitch design to encourage specific game problems to occur, and to provide the platform for players to work together to solve game problems with desired behaviours.

It is easy to get overwhelmed on your journey and to be discouraged by not achieving certain job roles/qualifications yet. In the pursuit of success… Remember why you chose to coach, and to win each day by ensuring you give everything to the players in your care.
