Inversely it doesn't have to be "the best ever" it can just be your favorite.
A game can be fun or boring without the extremes of positive/negative.

Saros quite is fun. The writing is kinda weak though. Returnal is definitely a better narrative experience since there's really only one character and the confused/recursive timeline thing is really able to shine with nobody but herself to bounce off of.

Bungie has always been a studio full of creatives that make what they want, taking massive risks to do so. They could've played it safe and stayed on Halo forever. They did not do that. Same goes for Destiny. Time keeps moving on. Please move with it instead of torturing yourself

Provided it does not impact the experience of others then I'd broadly say no. Obvious exceptions include lying about cheating in competitions, speedrunning, social media clout chasing and stuff of that sort.

@datnofact Don't get me wrong, it's a reasonable toolkit to offer, I just dont like what it risks. As an interactive medium, friction is core to what games are, and losing the bits of the narrative told through getting your ass kicked, even in "movie" games, sucks.

@RealBloodelf941 I mean that's kind of what "normal" difficulty means: the intended experience. I think it's fine to offer fine-grained difficulty sliders or options for people who want to tailor the experience where cramming it all into a single mode makes the game way too easy to optimise.

"you control the buttons you press" is a reasonable response to people getting mad at dialogue choices or character customisation options they don't have to use, but expecting players to avoid optimising the fun out of a game is more of a design issue than a player issue.

@datnofact Full respect, but the distinction between difficulty and accessibility is not something that players can actually parse. Some unironically argue that godmode would be an accessibility feature for games where the friction is the point. Gamers suck at tailoring their own experience
