Hey $CHAIN gang! 👋 We are going to be skipping this weekend’s Chain Reaction production build for two key reasons. First, our recent expansion of object pooling has uncovered a number of stability issues across several gameplay systems. While many of these could likely be addressed before tomorrow, doing so at the same time as our networking changes would increase risk and make troubleshooting significantly more difficult. Second, we’re in the middle of an important networking architecture refactor that introduces a much cleaner separation between server and client responsibilities. This is a major long term improvement for the project, but changes at this level naturally carry a higher risk of regressions until they’ve been fully tested. Rather than rushing a release, we’d prefer to use this additional time to stabilize the new systems, complete comprehensive testing, and ensure we’re delivering a polished, reliable build to the community. That approach reduces the likelihood of hotfixes, avoids introducing tightly coupled issues into production, and ultimately results in a much higher quality release. This also gives the team more time to become familiar with the new architecture. Since opportunities to make improvements of this scale are rare, it’s important that we implement them properly instead of rushing them into a release. The investment now will make future development faster, safer, and easier to maintain. We will have the next release polished and ready to go for next Friday.
