I share funny, relatable Nigerian observations and everyday rants about life, food, money, and the small things we all notice but rarely say out loud.

🇳🇬 JUST IN: Only 37 Days Remaining - ADC May Be Barred from Fielding Candidates If Convention Fails and Register Is Not Submitted The African Democratic Congress (ADC) is now on a fixed legal countdown that will determine its participation in the 2027 general elections, with just 37 days remaining until the May 10, 2026 deadline for submission of membership registers to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Under Section 77 of the Electoral Act 2026, the submission of a valid and verifiable membership register is a mandatory condition for conducting lawful party primaries. Without it, no primary conducted by any political party is valid in law. For ADC, the position is clear. If its convention fails to produce a unified and legally recognised structure, the party will not be able to submit a valid membership register by May 10. Once that happens, it loses the legal foundation to conduct valid primaries within the approved window of April 23 to May 30, 2026. Without valid primaries, ADC cannot produce lawful candidates. Without lawful candidates, ADC cannot participate in the 2027 elections. This outcome is automatic and not subject to discretion by INEC or any political consideration. It is the direct legal consequence of non compliance. Although candidate nomination windows open later, starting June 27, 2026 for presidential and National Assembly elections, those timelines become irrelevant if a party has no validly nominated candidates arising from compliant primaries. With INEC currently withholding recognition from all factions pending judicial resolution, ADC’s internal crisis has now become a time bound legal risk. The reality is immediate and unavoidable. If the convention fails and the May 10 deadline is missed, ADC is out of the 2027 elections.
