@pegge49 The build speed for the astutes was intentionally throttled quite a bit as to avoid a loss in workforce skill for the next programme. Speed of construction is a problem of money and will more than anything.

Time will tell, but it's taken 25 years to build just six Astute Class submarines (the sixth of which still isn't operational). So it'll need some serious improvements to the construction process achieve this target for the AUKUS program...
UK Defence Journal@UKDefJournal

The government has confirmed SSN-AUKUS submarine construction will begin in the late 2020s, with a target of delivering one boat every 18 months once the production rate is established. Click image for more. ukdefencejournal.org.uk/new-british-nu…

@Gabriel64869839 Do we have any idea of the specifications? First time hearing about it, apparently it got ordered back in Feb with basically no details given on range or payload I could find.

The Royal Artillery has now started showing off the Callen-Lenz NYAN one-way effector publicly. I've been sitting on a couple of pics for a bit, but we now have a short official video. Officially it's the 2d operational OWE after Modini DART 250. instagram.com/reel/DY4ePqIxh…

@DylanMinett @TBrit90 Don't be dramatic. T83 will happen no matter what, T26 order stuff is fear mongering, GCAP will receive funding (the Japanese PM is visiting soon). We won't get everything but I'm atleast hopeful we'll get a second batch of T31 and a new LIFT platform.

@TBrit90 Does Starmer genuinely not understand that it’s effectively a cut to defence spending… Rip MRSS, Type 83, Type 26 orders to replace hulls for Norway, Project Euston & investment in Faslane/Coulport, GCAP, F35, River B1 replacement, Red Arrows, Challenger 3 Ajax won’t be cut 😔

@SubhanJaved911 Still need a modern LIFT platform. A stripped down variant of Jf17 block 3 would do the job. The T-37 and K-8 are hopelessly outdated and pilots have to basically relearn how to fly once they get to their squadrons these days.

@Kevin_Maguire It's still outpacing growth by a significant margin, and with every year that passes, the gap gets exponentially bigger. Not to mention the insane amount of debt building up and increasing at unsustainable rates, we're fucked.

@FennellJW Any idea why the Swedes rejected the T31 proposal ? You would have thought their requirements would be similar to the Danes.. Think NZ will go with the 🇯🇵 proposal - makes more sense.

While the Swedish frigate bid is a disappointment, Sweden will be watching GCAP with interest, and FDI will need autonomous vessels to work with it, and there are Denmark and New Zealand opportunities yet for Type 31.

@TheObserve87441 @Jdxdd1356 @mooreanshifts Al Jassas's argument centres around this passage. He points out that the use of the word 'seemed' implies that it was not actual supernatural magic but optical illusions and other such cheap tricks that magicians use.

@Pray2Arajs1918 Linguistically your argument makes zero sense. Ilah is the root word while Allah is a contracted form of Al-Ilah (meaning The God literally) with the I removed for smoothness. The Shahada is, literaly speaking saying, there is no God but the God.

@Severus_arabius It depends on the person, with most people it's they can only drink a set amount of milk a day (like 500ml, often less) before they run out of lactase to digest it and gas starts to build in their digestive tract. A lot of people fart more after drinking milk without realising

This has to be wrong, I've never met not a single Arab who's lactose intolerant, if anything I know a lot of people in rural areas who drink milk straight from the cow
Rock Solid@ShitpostRock2

It's also crazy how 70% of the world is actually lactose intolerant Humans were never supposed to actually consume milk and lactose in general but our ancestors kept drinking it so much they buildt up tolerance, we are the weird ones on a global scale

£1bn contract for 72 RCH155, enough for a division. So if they used that £1bn to be spent on just 23 helos for the NMH programme that the Army doesn’t even want, that could be 144 RCH155 or two divisions worth. Add the 90+ M270A2 planned, that would equip 2 artillery brigades/Div Artillery Group’s worth of heavy artillery. That is pretty darn good.

@RaadTheShepherd He is correct in this case, the niqab is not a part of a "proper hijab". The rules are very clear that a woman must cover everything with exceptions for the face and hands. From a purely legal perspective he has every right to demand the removal of excess cultural clothing.

However bad Keir Starmer is as PM (and he really is bad at it), there's a strong national security argument to keep him in place until June 2. That's the date industry now expects the government to publish its much-delayed Defence Investment Plan. Once a leadership contest is underway, the civil service will insist on suspending any decisions on it for the new PM - so the crucial job of re-building the UK's hollowed out defences will get pushed back yet again, to at least the Autumn and perhaps 2027. That piles more risk on already significant risk. As any serving senior officer will tell you, we are not safe. We'll be even less safe by then.
