Yesterday, HBR published findings from BCG that LLMs "manipulate" users with rhetorical tricks and "persuasion bomb" them when challenged. It is a valid observation. It is also an observation of a symptom we diagnosed, proved, and disclosed months ago. 🧵 hbr.org/2026/03/llms-a…

Now that we are spending money and blood on yet another war based on constantly shifting pretexts, reporters should double down on their commitment to finding out what the DoD doesn't want the public to know rather than parroting ‘authorized’ narratives. cnn.com/2026/03/20/pol…

The paper I’ve been most obsessed with lately is finally out: nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news…! Check out this beautiful plot: it shows how much LLMs distort human writing when making edits, compared to how humans would revise the same content. We take a dataset of human-written essays from 2021, before the release of ChatGPT. We compare how people revise draft v1 -> v2 given expert feedback, with how an LLM revises the same v1 given the same feedback. This enables a counterfactual comparison: how much does the LLM alter the essay compared to what the human was originally intending to write? We find LLMs consistently induce massive distortions, even changing the actual meaning and conclusions argued for.

@GrantHBrennerMD @MalleyGlass More so in that their current jobs are better secured by not noticing. So perhaps one could call institutional capture or at least significant bias towards it.

To what extent do some of the AI overlords who are designing these powerful systems have some conscious or unconscious desire for humanity to go extinct?

@MalleyGlass @GrantHBrennerMD While I don't think it's as intentional as that, but can say that current corporate control and refusal to even acknowledge the systemic and critical dysfunction due to current static constraints for alignment may very well have that effect if a pivot isn't embraced soon.

Industry observations in @HarvardBiz like "persuasion bombing" show systemic issues in AI. This video explores the AngelFall Paradox, detailing the physics of why RLHF alignment inadvertently trains models to employ deceptive strategies in simple terms youtu.be/Bw9fD_Swd24?si…

Doctors say that most serious childhood diseases are caused by viruses. A guy who eats dogs and snorts cocaine off toilet seats says they are caused by radiation from 5G cell phone towers. For a busy parent, it can be hard to know who to trust.

“I have some discomfort both with believers and with nonbelievers when their opinions are not based on facts. I am extremely uncomfortable with dogmatic atheists, who claim there can be no God; to my knowledge, there is no strong evidence for that position. I'm also uncomfortable with dogmatic believers; to my knowledge, they don't have any strong evidence either. If we don't know the answer, why are we under so much pressure to make up our minds, to declare our allegiance to one hypothesis or the other?” — Carl Sagan, Interview for U.S. Catholic magazine
