Terrible. The game was lost because Pep could basically put a narrow front-four in front of a midfield two and dare the rest to play around or over, and there wasn't enough technical security to do that. Hoofing is a contagion.

Fair fucks, City had their game plan spot on. Their press totally stopped Arsenal from playing out. Disappointed with how passive manager and players were in response at the beginning of the second half. Needed a tweak to positioning when playing out but there wasn’t one, just kept playing into the jaws of death until the inevitable happened.

Arsenal will still win the league. But to park the bus at Wembley like that with 10 men behind the ball is shocking. They have World Class players who are capable of playing higher up the pitch and attacking. Terrible anti football tactics from Arteta today

When we won the league at Highbury in 1953, Arsenal were 3-2 up at home to Burnley and manager Tom Whittaker didn’t watch the last 10 minutes. He went to his office for a double brandy and waited for the final whistle because he couldn’t bear it.

Mad stat I clocked this morning. Since 1953, Arsenal have only one the league title on home soil once (1998). 1971 and 2004 were away at Spurs 1989 was away at Anfield 1991 was without even playing 2002 was away at Old Trafford

It feels perverse to sack someone off the back of a battling point at Anfield (and presumably the Atleti second leg that won’t matter). But the last four games happened too.

Oddly mixed feelings after that. We won the game, and advanced in the title race ... but we didn't do it in a way that pleased Fabian Hürzeler. I keep asking myself if it was worth it.

The most damning indictment on the state of the game right now is that fans, managers and media are forcing a narrative of Arsenal bending the rules of football when they’re in a title race with a club that is evading 115 charges for bending the rules of football.
