Is Afrobeats failing? The real question now is something much bigger. What happens when Nigeria finally decides to build the system that this industry deserves?

Advice for the “OG”s… Please stop going on these platforms to tell sad stories about your past, and about who you’ve helped that doesn’t pick your call anymore. Nobody cares! If you don’t have happy stories to tell about yourself and your career when you were reigning, going on platforms to be doing “calling out” is just setting yourself up for ridicule. The kids out there only see you as broke and bitter. Nobody owes you anything. And that is the harsh truth. Tell your story. Celebrate yourself. Put some respect on YOUR name. Peace ✌🏾

Gimmick artists know how to hold attention and I really envy them for that. My only problem with them is that the music usually suffers. They pay less attention to the music and more attention to the gimmicks but truth is most people don’t even care. Lol

Many girls have reportedly been r@p£d and m0l£sted by men in Ozoro during what is being described as a “r@p!ng festival” in the area. According to multiple reports and videos circulating online, today is said to be the day of this festival in the Ozoro community, and girls are wvrned not to go outside. It is alleged that any girl seen outside could be att@ck£d and r@p£d by groups of men. Foreigners who are unaware of this situation have reportedly fallen v!ctim as well. There is Delta state university in Ozoro, and many female students may not be fully aware of the d@nger. It is distvrbing that something like this could be tolerated in society. This is heartbreaking, and urgent action needs to be taken.

@RealKiingLu Marketers' greed forced artists into streaming. If the industry wasn't flawed, there wouldn't be a need for change. CD's still sell abroad. Wiz earns around $1m monthly from sportify. for new artists, You know back then they'd pay big to be on a dj mix next to Davido.

Nigeria hasn’t fully embraced music streaming. And it’s one of the biggest reasons the music business is becoming harder to sustain locally. Coming from someone who worked in the Alaba distribution era. Wait I will explain, stay with me …..

Apple Music charts are not an accurate reflection of the Nigerian market. They mostly reflect urban smartphone users, not the full grassroots audience that actually drives hits in Nigeria. Artists STOP this chart obsession and focus more on growing a real community.

@EngrKizzy Your facts might be correct, I can’t dispute that but I have a question for you. Has any artist ever made atleast 200M from Nigerian streams, I am just asking cos I know most of them make their streaming money outside this market.

@RealKiingLu Outright sale, I just used this p square as an example. It's lesser if you habe clause of renegotiation. Artists were renting houses and feeding from shows while Marketers were buying estates. Danger was of the highest sales ever 50m. The total rights were sold. Fact find

@RealKiingLu You acknowledge that marketers were complicit to Piracy. 50m against 600m is less than 10% to artists. Game over of P square was sold for 10 million naira and sold over 8 million copies( do the maths). Marketers were tyrants, so artists embraced any getaway.

Yes I understand piracy was a major challenge then but most of the influential marketers joined cartels that managed the piracy ish to an extent . Artists sold their albums outrightly to marketers for huge sums, imagine an artist collecting over 50M naira 15 years ago and still came back to renegotiate with the marketers when the album blew up beyond their imagination .

@RealKiingLu Please highlight the part where marketers made over 80% of CD's sold as most artists sold their albums outright to marketers or face the reoccurring lamba on piracy if they enter a deal per record sold.

Curious question: Do you think Nigerians will ever fully embrace paid streaming? Or will the industry eventually need a different local monetization model?
