A list of psychologists in JHB. Some of the email addresses and areas of focus are missing but hopefully they will be populated over time. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

For three years the world knew her only as Emily Doe. "In the newspapers my name was unconscious intoxicated woman. Ten syllables and nothing more than that." Her attacker had been convicted of three felonies. The judge gave him six months because he was worried prison would have a severe impact on him. He served three months. Then walked free. She sat in that courtroom and read her statement directly to him. Every word of what had been done to her. Every consequence she had lived with since. Every thing the system had decided didn't matter enough. It was posted online. Read 11 million times in four days. Translated into dozens of languages. Read aloud on the floor of Congress. California passed mandatory minimum sentences for attacks like hers. Broadened the legal definition of what the law recognised as r**e. The judge was recalled from the bench - the first California judicial recall in 86 years. Then she told the world her real name. Her name is Chanel Miller.
TVP@Theveripost

She was found unconscious behind a dumpster at Stanford. Her attacker was convicted. The judge gave him six months. He served three. What she did next was read by 11 million people in four days and changed California law forever.

When you travel, your brain is forced out of autopilot. New streets, languages, food, faces — the nervous system can't rely on old scripts. This creates what scientists call a "plastic window," when decisions are rewritten faster. One woman said: "After two weeks abroad, I realized I was living someone else's life." That realization didn't come from analysis, but from contrast.
blue@bluewmist

Researchers noticed a strange pattern: major life shifts often happen not after years of therapy, but after a single strong travel experience. People come back from a trip and suddenly quit jobs, end relationships, change cities, or finally start something they postponed for years. A psychologist explained: "Travel breaks the illusion that your current life is the only possible one." Therapy works with words, travel works with direct experience.

It’s deliberate. They want to deter women from responding with violence. This is just one of the many ways society conditions us to be easy prey for males. If we were dropping males as a response to their abuse, things would change. Society needs women to be shock-absorbers…
pinkleftygirl@pinkleftygirl

Female victims who k!ll their abusers in self-defense spend an average of 15 years in prison but Abusive men who murd3r their female partners spend an average of 2 to 6 years in prison.

The quickest way to “get your spark back” is to literally light yourself on fire. You’ve got to burn baby. You’re depressed bc you’re not being insane enough. Double. Down. The world does not reward half ass. All in or out. You’re thinking too small. You’ve accepted your current reality as the only reality. Bullshit. You need to write a list of the most insane asks you could ever dream of. “I am a NYT best selling author. I am the founder of a Fortune 500 company. I paint for a living and I make a damn good living.” Ask and you shall receive. Embody and you become. Flip the fucking script. Your current ceiling is now the floor. Level up. You need to burn.
