The last few days have been a great success for Reform but there is still a long hard fight ahead. Labour have learnt nothing and are still planning on cancelling the 2027 elections!!

ONE thing I’ve learnt very quickly serving residents is that getting things done in local government takes persistence, pressure and a willingness to keep pushing when others have moved on. Even relatively small issues can drag on for months if nobody is prepared to properly chase them through the system. Residents don’t always see the emails, meetings, follow-ups and constant pressure that happens behind the scenes, but that’s often what it takes to finally get results. That said, sometimes issues can actually be resolved very quickly when somebody is prepared to take ownership of them. A recent example being a damaged manhole cover which had been causing concern locally for months in another councillor’s division. After it was raised with me, I reported it directly to Severn Trent, pushed the relevant department to push them, and within two days the issue had been resolved. Whether it’s flooding concerns, road resurfacing, damaged infrastructure, parking issues or everyday local problems raised with me directly, my approach has always been simple: keep pushing until something actually happens. Over recent months, I’ve also learnt there’s a big difference between quietly getting things sorted and suddenly appearing at the final stage once the issue is already being dealt with. Residents are far more switched on than some people in politics seem to think. Personally, I’m not interested in newspaper columns on page 12, political point scoring or pretending long standing problems have only just appeared. I’m interested in outcomes. If local people contact me about an issue, I’ll continue doing everything I can to push for action and keep applying pressure until something changes. Local residents deserve representatives who are visible, proactive and prepared to challenge the system when necessary, not just when there’s an opportunity for publicity. At the end of the day, it’s not about who shouts the loudest, it’s about who actually gets stuff done. 🇬🇧 And Reform UK, Gets Stuff Done

I would like to thank all of the people who voted for me and put their trust in me. It wasn't the result I wanted, but I came 2nd beating the tories and labour, losing out to the lib dems. This is not the end for me. This is only the start!!!

The election results are now in. Reform won over 3.8 million votes across Britain — one million more than our nearest rival! Thank you for voting Reform. 🇬🇧

People are not talking enough about Barnsley council. Has been Labour for more than half a century. Reform just came from nowhere, a standing start, to take 42 seats and the entire council. Insane.

Dr Manivannan may be a nice young person. But I don’t want to live in a country where people on student visas can become elected representatives to national parliaments. He’s crowdfunding from Green Party members for his graduate visa for pete’s sake. gbnews.com/politics/elect…

Swinney promised he would be a First Minister for ALL of Scotland, but his first act pours scorn on the 383,425 Scots who voted for Reform. No matter. He may shut us out from his cosy club, but he cannot stop their voices being heard in Holyrood!
Colin Mackay@STVColin

FM says he will invite all party leaders except Reform in to St Andrews House for talks about post election priorities. On cost of living, he will deal with supermarket price cap and £2 bis fare in first 100 days. He says UK Govt must engage on the constitution.

Cllr Sophie Preston-Hall ECC Rochford North
I just want to say a massive heartfelt thank you to every single person who supported me, helped me, encouraged me and stood beside me throughout this campaign. This was the very first campaign I have ever run completely on my own, without the wonderful support and structure from HQ, so it was certainly a huge learning curve for me. There are definitely lessons I will take forward, things I’ve learnt and things I’ll improve on moving ahead — but I truly hope I did you all proud. From the people who came out leafleting and door knocking in the pouring rain, to those who sent kind messages, stopped me in the street, made me cups of tea and coffee, shared posts, gave advice, or simply believed in me — thank you. Every single bit of support meant more than you will ever know. Politics can be tough at times, but what this campaign showed me more than anything is just how many incredible, passionate and good-hearted people there are in our communities who genuinely want better for our area. I honestly could not have done it without you all. Now the campaign is over, the election is won, and the real hard work starts now. I promise to work as hard as I possibly can for the residents of Rochford North and to be a strong, visible and accessible voice for the community. Thank you all so much. 🩵

I honestly cannot put into words how grateful I am to everyone in Redhouse Ward who placed their trust in me yesterday and elected me as your Councillor. Over the past few months I’ve had the privilege of speaking to so many wonderful residents on the doorstep, and I can promise that now the election is over, the hard work does not stop. I will continue to be visible, accessible, and work every day to represent our community properly on Sunderland City Council. Thank you all so much for your incredible support 🇬🇧
