I've had great discussions in the past with @RealMikeRother and Jeff Liker about applying Lean and Toyota Kata in legal-services delivery organizations. I continue to introduce Lean and Toyota Kata principles and exercises in my @NorthwesternLaw & @NorthwesternEng courses. Several years ago, Jeff spoke to the "legal innovation and technology" class that I taught at @UMichLaw. Work culture often prioritizes answers over questions. That's a dead end. Practice scientific thinking and utilize it to keep moving.

Don't accept jumping to conclusions! Practicing Toyota Kata in your team is a way of developing some 'social circuitry' in your organization for thinking, working, reacting, and interacting more scientifically ... together.

Why **practice** scientific thinking, rather than only reading and talking about it? Our underlying assumptions are highly resistant to change, but *practicing* ST has the power to confront and modify them. Embrace reality ... every day a school day. Heck, enjoy reality! ;-)

Finally .. a book that presents Lean in a way that is applicable in public policy, taking Lean to a more generally-applicable level. This might be a good book for anyone in the Lean community to read. The different application sector helps you get more the essence of Lean.

Toyota Kata practitioners are about 'management' that uses cognitive processes to develop & channel problem-solving skill/habits. With all the challenges we face, the ability to mobilize human ingenuity at the team & organization level could be a key factor in the world of work.
