Police Intercept Smuggling of 20 Ethiopian Nationals in Limpopo Limpopo police successfully thwarted a human trafficking operation, arresting 20 Ethiopian nationals being transported to Johannesburg in a Ford Ranger bakkie. The interception occurred along the N11 in Mokopane, following reports that the group had been illegally brought into South Africa via the Beitbridge Border Post. When authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver refused and led them on a high-speed pursuit. During the chase, shots were fired at the officers, who returned fire until the vehicle lost control and crashed into nearby bushes. The driver and one passenger fled on foot and remain at large. A search of the vehicle revealed 20 Ethiopian men, aged between 18 and 44, who lacked valid documentation. An investigation into the smuggling ring has been launched.

As a nation we are not angry enough at the economic and health damage that this Foreign Spaza Shops Cartels are doing to our country. For my shops we stock up at Cash&Carry but today I decided to enter the wholesalers where the Cartels get their stock, today I found it ran by Pakistanis as young as 13 years old, Most of their snacks and biscuits don’t have expiry dates, the cooking oil is expired maybe that’s why Nkensani hospital admitted 57 kids this week. Unless we learn from other African countries and BAN foreigners from running Spaza Shops we can’t deal with this crisis because government will never have enough environmental health specialists to deal with this crisis it’s widespread.

@StrAightMARVIN @MikeRamothwala One way or another we need those spaza shops, regulating them and doing regular inspections can help, but closing them is not a solution.

At least 15 undocumented foreign nationals have just been caught during a raid around Albert Park in Durban. Almost a hundred others are currently being processed. Two more men - South Africans - have been identified as wanted suspects. One of them has evaded arrest since 2001. KZN premier Thami Ntuli says there is a vigorous province-wide crime elimination programme, including rooting out undocumented foreign nationals. @eNCA #DStv403
