🚨 Flathead County, MT: On Sunday, Luis Miguel Maldonado Alfonzo was arrested for Sexual Intercourse Without Consent. He has an immigration detainer hold.

Every single thing I and others have suggested are things I have /personally/ done. I have been homeless. I have gone without food to save money. I have sold blood and plasma. I have stolen food just so I could eat. I have gone days in-between meals, and when I got to eat, it was out of some store or restaurant's dumpster. I had to teach myself how to cook, and shop. I have dug through cars and couch cushions just to find enough change to put a gallon of gas in my falling-apart beater of a car so I could get to work. I have relocated for work, and/or for housing. I have lived in no fewer than three of the murder capitals of the US, while they held that title, in some of the shittiest parts of those cities, because that's what I could afford. I have had multiple simultaneous roommates in a structure designed for fewer people. I have worked shit jobs for shit pay. For many years. I have accepted work simply because it came with a free meal on work days, so I could eat. I didn't buy my first home until I was well into my late 30s. And it was a townhouse. A very small one. I didn't own a car made in the decade I bought it until my early 30s. I bought my first new car when I was over 40. I bought my second one 9 years ago. And it's not only the last new vehicle I'll buy, it's the last vehicle I'll buy, period. I lived for two years primarily off packs of ramen noodles, canned peas, and -- if I was rich and splurged -- jars of Ragu pasta sauce. So when some entitled 20-something comes along and refuses to do some of the imminently sensible things I and others are suggesting, like taking your lunch, or looking for more reasonable housing in less-desirable areas, or save for a few years until the market corrects before they buy, and they treat is as though we're asking them to live like prisoners or Depression survivors (both things people have directly claimed in response), I couldn't give less of a fuck. I'm not even asking them to do the things /I/ did to get by. Just make more reasonable, sane financial decisions. So yeah, they're gonna get a shitton of attitude in response. Sorry if that bursts your bubble. I'm nobody's fucking role model.

The urban core generates almost all of a typical U.S. city's tax revenue but most of it goes to fund roads, sewer lines, power lines et al in suburbs. If suburbs paid for themselves, rather than leaching off the city, I think a lot more people would be live and let live on this.
