The Holy Spirit: Breath and Living Water Without air, a person can survive for only about three minutes, and without water, they can survive for only about three days. How fitting it is that the Holy Spirit is referred to as both breath and living water. In the Bible, both the Hebrew and Greek words for spirit, “Ruach” and “Pneuma," mean a breeze, air in motion, and breath. Jesus uses these meanings when talking about the Holy Spirit. About the Holy Spirit being breath and wind, He said, “The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:7-8) He also said in John 20:21-22, “‘Peace to you! As the Father sent me, I also send you.’ And when He had said this, He breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’” But the Bible also refers to the Holy Spirit as water. Jesus said, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” But this He spoke concerning the Spirit.” (John 7:37-39) And so, while our physical body cannot survive without air and water, our spirit cannot survive without the air and water of the Holy Spirit.

I don't even know what I'm supposed to do every single day. It's never the right thing. It's never enough. I just want it to all be over.

When we are alert to what is going on around us, we can better see God's plan unfold. He is coming again, and the world around us says it's soon. Share this so your friends know too.

There were people looking for Jesus to break the rules, but Jesus looked for someone who needed help. They were troublemakers, but Jesus is a miracle-maker! He can bring a miracle to your life, too.
