The problem is that Earth’s gravity dwarfs the building’s. Fg=G(gravitational constant) x (mass object 1 x mass object 2)/r^2 (to the centers of gravity). Earth is ~6x10^24 kg. A skyscraper may be somewhere around 3x10^8 kg. So the Earth has about 10 quadrillion times the mass. Not a fair tug of war. But there are microgravity experiments that show small object clumping under gravity. Cavendish is the most famous though.
