Rest In Peace to one of the pioneers of California cross country and track and field. Bob Rush, a timer back in the days of stopwatches, Chronomizes and popsicle sticks, also was highly instrumental in various administrative aspects in keeping the sport organized at the junior college level. He was 90. He and his trusty bullhorn will be greatly missed. #YouMustRUNThroughTheChute

Jahncke, who was United States Assistant Secretary of the Navy from 1929 to 1933 and a member of the International Olympic Committee until 1936 when he was expelled for opposing the Olympic Games being held in Berlin in 1936. It would be absolutely epic to see a professional paper-chase in this day and age. Two hares to lay the scent, 20 athletes to “chase” and everyone races home once the paper runs out. W/ mobile cameras, drone footage, hazards, false trails, & unpredictability it fits right in.

So what is strange about this ruling, stakes aside, is the hypothetical that the course organizers could knowingly act in bad faith. You’re saying that if Atlanta had runners in 4th, 5th, and 6th and the lead car led the top 3 astray, there would be no recourse? Interesting take.

USATF has issued a statement regarding the finish of the women's race at the USATF Half Marathon Championships in Atlanta this morning, where Jess McClain, Edna Kurgat and Emma Hurley were leading the race but were directed off course by the lead vehicle. A protest was filed but has been denied. The results will stand. Molly Born is the 2026 USATF half marathon champion. USATF will review the incident before it selects the team members for the 2026 World Road Running Championships. Full statement below:
