NEW: I just signed a bill making it illegal to seize ballots or interfere with election equipment. As Trump and MAGA assault democracy, we're not sitting idly by — we’re safeguarding California’s elections.

@adesantisb @elonmusk So your argument is we need more competition and less regulation in heath insurance? This works for me.

My hot take is that people can get healthcare late and expensive in the emergency department or have access to appropriate and affordable care when it’s treatable and curable. Unfortunately, sickness is not a commodity, it’s a highly necessary service, and the typical laws of supplying demand do not apply. That’s not to say that some aspects of capitalism need to be retained. For instance, the freedom of choice (which we really don’t have now due to narrow insurance networks) and access to unobstructed care (which is currently blocked by cost barriers and deny and delay tactics). People will vote with their feet based on customer service, quality and comprehensiveness of care, and location of any given practice or hospital. The 3rd party exchange of capital needs to be removed as an intermediary between the patient and the care, just like you wouldn’t want a third-party payer between the fire department and your house that’s burning to the ground.

Prices are critical information without an economy cannot function
Rothmus 🏴@Rothmus

As a young socialist, Hayek read Ludwig von Mises’ 1920 paper “Economic Calculation in the Socialist Commonwealth.” Mises showed that socialist central planning isn’t merely inefficient, it’s impossible. Without private property and genuine market prices, planners lack any rational way to allocate scarce resources or determine real costs and needs. Even Oskar Lange, a leading socialist in the calculation debate, effectively conceded the point. While he promoted “market socialism” with trial-and-error pricing by a central board, real-world socialist planners in Eastern Europe quietly relied on world capitalist market prices as a guide. Without external free-market price signals, pure socialism would be economically blind and coordination would collapse. Mises went further, arguing that interventionism, the “middle way” of government meddling, is inherently unstable. Each intervention creates problems that invite more interventions, eventually leading to full socialization. Price controls cause shortages, subsidies distort production, and the cycle continues until the economy is fully planned. The lesson is clear. Rational economics requires genuine market prices emerging from voluntary exchange and private property. Half-measures don’t stabilize the system. They accelerate the drift into central planning. The Austrian School understood this decades before the collapse of the Soviet bloc proved it in practice.

@izamamaa Is your history really limited to the 200 years of slavery? You have thousands of other yearsz Every race was genocide or enslaved at some point. Blacks are just the most recent.

@adesantisb @elonmusk So rich people can buy the services of others that poor people can’t? Is this your hot take on capitalism and pricing?

I agree that capitalism works very well with many consumer goods like clothing, restaurants, cars, etc. However, there are some things where a structured system for the public good works better like fire department, police department, public schools, libraries, road and highway maintenance, and yes, healthcare. A purely capitalist approach to healthcare leaves roughly 30% of the United States without access due to cost barriers. It creates medical deserts, whereby access concentrates itself in areas of relative, wealth and wellness while abandoning poorer urban and rural areas of the country.

It doesn’t matter how many studies were made about the failures of socialism. The fact of the matter is that the current system, capitalism has created a wealth gap so large that folks are forced to consider the alternative. If we don’t figure out how to shorten the wealth gap and control the cost of living, the people will inevitably support socialist agendas.

@thoserscenes @4DimensionalAI @elonmusk Croney capitalism. That’s where the government picks winners and losers by regulations and tax breaks, usually based on financial influences. Ron Paul talks a lot about this.

Just a reminder that this fraudulent piece of shit never called me a single time when I was working overtime on this case, and for transparency. Not once did I hear from this fraud about the case. When I saw him at main Justice he never even mentioned it. And then when I offered to brief him at FBI HQ about this case, and others, he passed. Because he’s full of shit. I’ve met a lot of political zeroes in my time but never a bigger zero than this pinecone. I wouldn’t piss on him if he was on fire. He jumped the shark, and when the shark bit back, he cried “The Jooos,” and “Epstein!” I’ve seen him behind the scenes and he’s a pathetic, boner-phone-club VIP points member. It says a lot that the people who know him best just kicked his sorry ass out by ten points. If he wants a war with me then I’m more than happy to oblige. Because nothing he vomits out will change the fact that he’s a zero, and a performance artist.

@AlaskaBird__ @rittmeister_11 That was Trump and Vance and Bangino and Patel and Bondi who promised you those files over a year ago. I was the one who delivered them. In those files you’ll find the names Jes Staley, Leslie Wexner, Leon Black, and others that the President and his AG refuse to prosecute.

When I’m elected to Congress, I’m pushing for reparations for Foundational Black Americans — descendants of slaves in America. Reparations means justice, economic repair, land ownership, opportunity, and restoring wealth stolen for generations. It’s time for accountability. Make sure you’re on the right side of history.

Spanking your kids is teaching them to resolve their emotional conflicts with violence. You’re not parenting them, you’re teaching them the same traumas your parents put on you. It’s time to evolve and teach kids to deal with their emotions in a meaningful and positive way.
