@RebeckaPeebles Not all of it has been proven yet. You'll have to take a look at all of my posts over the past 1 1/2 years or so.

@YourAnonCentral @grok is this altered in any way or is it real

Stop fear-mongering. ICE does NOT arrest or deport U.S. citizens.
If a U.S. citizen is arrested, it is because they have obstructed or assaulted law enforcement. What makes someone a target for immigration enforcement is if they are illegally in the U.S.—NOT their skin color, race, or ethnicity.
Secretary Noem has been clear: rioters will not stop us or slow us down.
Senator Dick Durbin@SenatorDurbin
This is patently false. The Trump-Noem DHS is detaining American citizens. And they’re doing it during violent, indiscriminate raids and using excessive force. None of us are safer for it.

I've met tons of researchers who hate stats!
If you're one of these, this book is for you ⤵️
Save (with 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘦.𝘮𝘦) & Repost
The author says it perfectly:
"The most important concepts of statistics can be explained, so that ordinary people can understand it."
— No complex formulas.
— No expensive software needed.
— Just spreadsheets & clear thinking.
The book covers:
— Sample surveys
— Data presentation
— Confidence intervals
— Statistical tests
Written for people who need to collect data.
— Analyze results.
— Present findings.
But don't want to become mathematicians.
Real examples throughout.
— Like the Fitness Club survey with 30 kids.
Shows you exactly how to spot bias.
When to use different tests.
How to avoid common mistakes.
Perfect for public health researchers.
Statistics doesn't have to be scary.

@AgnesAyton 1. Weight bias
2. Displacement of compassion - that it is somehow more compassionate to watch someone languish and die than to get them the help they need and deserve

Thinking about the high mortality rates in #anorexia nervosa (AN) and the lack of prevention policies. This seems to be related to:
1. Stigma. Both in policymakers and healthcare professionals.
2. Sexism
3. Lack of monitoring
4. Lack of training
5. Lack of research
what else?

@PhilWhittlesee @SteveStuWill People in larger bodies are not eating their feelings any more than any other size bodies. So much weight bias in this statement.
English

@SteveStuWill Obese people eat their feelings. It is unhealthy long-term, but a highly successful short-term coping mechanism.
Staying alive in the moment trumps long-term health effects. Being unable to resolve these issues, however, is a skill most are unable to master.

@AnorexiaMyths @docrobertsdiet A lot of projection goes on. And sadly these rigid ideas of illness that patients are plastered with can be introjected

‘Overly narrow focus on weight restoration’. Hmm… there’s nowhere near enough focus on getting people to a brain health weight. Let’s not continue getting people to just under where they should be and then throwing a million therapies at them and wondering why they don’t work.
JAMA Psychiatry@JAMAPsych
Anorexia nervosa is a severe mental illness with rising prevalence among youths, limited treatment options, and prominent physical and psychological challenges. This Special Communication recommends steps to improve research in this field. ja.ma/443jsTF
English

@AnorexiaMyths Fully agree. This is disappointing. I wish the field focused on weight restoration more. Of course that’s not the entire picture and we know that; weight restoration is necessary but not sufficient. But to say that we are overly focused is ridiculous.

There are days in life that shake you.
I’m shattered 💔 to share that I just found out that the US Government terminated my 2024 NIH Director’s Early Independence Award (~$2 million), threatening my long-promised assistant professor job at @Columbia & academic career... 1/🧵
