@VDOOZER I loved it. Maybe you could have an REBT therapist - they’re the only ones who don’t say, “How does that make you feel?”

I hope every P.G. Wodehouse fan gets to see this passage 😄🤞🏻 (Includes a delightful description of an Autumn morning, an opposition to lunching on raw carrots, and the most terrific word in 'rannygazoo': an old American slang term for a scheme, or a foolish carrying-on.)

@iconawrites Creating something with our own hands is underrated, the almost-meditative experience is valuable, then you get something useful or beautiful at the end.

Having an analog-only hobby (woodworking, watercolour painting, sewing, knitting) can bring you so much joy. In a society where companies profit from doomscrolling and overconsumption, slowly learning how to create something with your own hands can be a radical act.

Typo of the day ‘Memopause’ I think it means the point at which I stop taking notes and go and make a cup of tea.

Writing is going well on the menopause lecture - by ‘going well’ I mean that I have 26 slides, seven of which are Slide Ten and three are Extra Slide.

@Fiona71009285 You weren’t. Imagine a world where this is all studied and explained and understood. It took me a long time to put all the pieces together - studying while having hot flushes gave me a clear picture. It would have been easier if there had been anything at all to build on.

@RebtThoughts This makes complete sense, my anxiety levels spiked during hot flushes. I thought I was going mad.

@JoolzDenby For me, the pathway should be clear - explore alternative causes for symptoms, just in case we’re missing something, then HRT if wanted. That seems safer.

@RebtThoughts NICE change like a chameleon. Basically there’s been bugger all research because of medical misogyny and they’re struggling to keep up with what’s being learned now. In my mothers generation it was so shameful no one ever spoke of it at least now we can speak

Menopause Information: menopause does not stop or go away etc. it’s permanent. It is the 3rd stage of a woman’s life. Certain symptoms may abate but others will take their place. There are over 60 symptoms of menopause, caused by oestrogen depletion.

@apropoofnothing Good luck with appointment. Don’t forget - your temperature might have raised, but you aren’t ill, it will pass.

@RebtThoughts Thanks for this. I'm getting a hormone panel done tomorrow and this is an important part of my symptoms.

@MavisM54295 @RebtThoughts Because no one ever talked about it, it was considered a shameful secret. My mother went through hell and never discussed it ever except once when after a particularly psychotic meltdown she blamed it on The Change but it was never spoken of again.

@RebtThoughts @JoolzDenby I wish someone had explained brain fog, anxiety, forgetfulness and sleep problems were all part of it - I thought I was developing early-onset Alzheimer’s. Dealing with a caseload of 100s of patients was impossible when I couldn’t keep more than one thought in my head at a time.

@MavisM54295 @JoolzDenby Our brains are completely rewiring, lots of old connections are being removed - it’s such a state of flux that I think brain fog is inevitable, we’re rebuilding our brains.
