Precisely! Recovering people on social media are a unique breed. Instead of chasing attention, we're (hopefully) seeking *connection.* Connection, so that when tough times come, we won't be stuck alone in the messes we were before. We are all miracles, each one. #RecoveryPosse

I can't stand when people who are new here act like all of this is some competition with likes or follows or hashtags or whatever it might be. This is literally just a community of ppl who are alive when they probably shouldn't be, looking to connect & encourage others That's it.

Day 254 and I’ve just realised my 1 year sobriety will be the day before my mums birthday - 7th July! She’s been my biggest supporter, believer and helps me throughout this journey! It’s going to be the biggest and best present I can give her, I’ve got this!💪🏼#RecoveryPosse

Every day you choose sobriety, you're casting a vote for the person you're becoming. You don't have to be perfect. You just have to keep voting.

You're not "bad at sleep." Your nervous system is fried from hypervigilance & your brain is not interested in giving post traumatic nightmares a few hours to torture you. It's not your fault. Trauma responses & symptoms are not "choices" or "failures."

There is so much good on the other side of healing. So much life on the other side of fear. So much richness and fullness of life where there is connection and vulnerability.

Hello recovery world, had an unplanned break, came back to a few concerned dms. I’m good! I’ve been working, spending time with family, travelling, just navigating through every day life & my recovery continues to go well through the ups & downs 💪🏻

Most trauma survivors go though periods where no recovery tools seem to work. It's not just you, & it doesn't mean "no tools work." It means that's where you are today. Your effective toolbox exists-- & some stretches are harder than others. I know. Easy does it.

Congratulations on 3 years of sobriety to Jules! 🎉 “I’m Jules, and today I celebrate being 3 years #sober and I’m a Recoverying Warrior. I’m 38, proudly Indigenous, I’m a son, a brother, an uncle, a grandson, a nephew, and a friend and I’m an alcoholic... I’ve struggled with alcoholism since my 20s, I have been sober for 1 year, 1.5 years, and 3 years before. 3 years ago I spent a night in the drunk tank...that was my wake up moment to stop drinking. I’ve got God the Creator to thank for protection, His Love, His strength, close family and friends who love me for who I am, and continually encourage me. Today is the biggest accomplishment of my life and I know that tomorrow I will continue on with sobriety, as the next year will be the longest stretch sober for me in over 20 years. Thank you for your love & continued words of encouragement, love Jules 🤙🏾”

Pretty wild that abusers will act flabbergasted like, "Wow I can't believe you are holding a grudge, won't allow me back into your life, or refuse to forgive me" when they altered your entire nervous system & it has taken decades to readjust.

Shout out to every kid who was praised for being "mature" or an "old soul" growing up-- & who didn't have anyone in their life stop to wonder if maybe kids NEED space to be kids. To make mistakes, to make messes, to not have to placate or regulate the adults around them.

I not only loved how whiskey made me feel. I love how whiskey tastes. I loved being the guy who knew every bartender and could walk into any room and meet anyone. I not only loved how cocaine made me feel. I loved being the guy who always had it or could get it. I had to first get clean from the substances. But then I had to deal with the version of myself I'd been avoiding my whole life. Sober strong.
